Seeking a Good Ob/gyn in Naperville Area and Its Surroundings

I am now pregnant with my 3rd child, and have had a hard time trying to find a good doctor in the naperville area. I lost my second pregnancy, and am considered somewhat of a high risk. Recently, two of my friends had C-sections when both of them could have delivered normal vaginal deliveries. Since then, I have heard that Edward Hospital has had more C-Section deliveries than vaginal deliveries. And that is making it h*** o* me to find a doctor that cares more about the patient than about money (since C-sections generate more money than vaginal deliveries). Any suggestions would be great and valuable to me. Thanks. R

Dr. Meghan Flannery is in Naperville out of Edward Hospital. My girlfriend married a doctor from Edward and he sent her to Dr. Flannery. She has been very happy with Dr. Flannery. Good Luck!

I second Dr. Flannery and also toss a great thumbs up to Dr. Lucaric at Naperville Women's health care. I absolutely love it there! I've had two babies, one miscarriage, and one trip to the O.R. after delivery with them. I have complete confidence in them!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Since I had twins, my pregnancy was considered high risk. I had a fabulous doctor, Dr. Morrison. He is with Female Health Care, and I delivered at Central Dupage, which I felt gave superior care. I highly recommend this group of doctors.

Hi there, I second the recommendation for Dr. Banuelos of
http://www.wdpobgyn.com/. I delivered my 2nd - a boy weighing 9.8 lbs 5 days ago at Edwards in Naperville. it was a vaginal delivery and Dr B took the time to help deliver him with out the need for an Episiotomy or tearing. I like that he is a one man practice and I know who I will see when delivery time comes. He is very open and honest with his recommendations and always make sure all your questions are answered. He is affiliated with both Edwards and Good Sam. Hope this helps.

I also recommend dr. chen and carver, they are the only two doctors in their practice so you are guaranteed to have one of them deliver your baby. I had a normal birth with my first daughter (she was transverse breech but flipped on her own) and expect the same with my second child in december. Dr. Chen has a great personality and bedside manner, Dr. Carver you have to get used to his humor, but is very caring as well! Good luck hope this helps make your decision easier!

I have just delivered my 3rd child with Badowski, Druzak and Jensen and have never felt pressured into anything. They have always allowed me to make the decisions in my birth plan.

I delivered at Rush-Copley and had the best experience both times. I LOVE my ob/gyne, Dr. Bernadita Druhan. She's fabulous! Always smiling and cheerful, spends time with you, and makes sure you understand everything. I've had good experiences with the other doctors in her group, too. Good Luck with your pregnancy! Congrats!

I absolutely love Central DuPage Hospital and would not go anywhere else around here. I also love Alexian Brothers/ St. Alexius but it's a hike from here.

Dr. Stephen Binette is my absolute favorite doc. Check him out!

If you are willing to go to Hinsdale hospital and Willowbrook for appointments, go to West Suburban Women's Health. It is an AMAZING place. It's all women and I worked with 2 of the 3 midwives the have and met all of the doctors and liked all of them. I had a natural, drug free birth with my daughter at Hinsdale and had all the support that I needed. Check them out! 630-654-baby. Congrats!

I am not sure if you are open to a midwife, but I highly recommend Women First Midwifery in Aurora. They are so compassionate and spend so much time with you. I wanted to have natural deliveries and they were so helpful with that but they are supportive of whatever birthing plan you desire. I delivered at Provena Mercy and absolutely loved both of my experiences there!
I definitely recommend looking into it!
The main midwife is Deb Riddell and she is so experienced and full of helpful information. Her presence is very calming and she is so comforting-almost like my mom!

Good Luck!

I recently delivered my first baby in july at edward. My doctor was in a group in lisle, DuPage Health Specialists. I was very happy with all of them. I had a very long labor, and towards the end baby was not tolerating labor well anymore. I am sure it would have been easy to reccommend a ceserean, but she just used the vaccuum and I was still able to deliver normally. Hope thiis helps. Good Luck.

I and many of my clients go to the Du Page Health Specialists located on Ogden in Lisle. They deliver out of Edward. I suggest seeing Dr. Audrey Bromberger. She is awesome and a little more natural oriented. Even if you are not going to natural birth route at least you know she does not push intervention unless really necessary###-###-####. I would also suggest getting into a childbirth preparation class that can really educate you about your decisions. I and many of my clients have birthed naturally at Edward and many had pre-existing problems. However, having knowledge about your options gives you confidence in what you are doing HypnoBirthing is great and so is the Bradley method, though I used HB myself and teach it. You will be fine, just research all your options and trust in yourself and your baby!!!!!

I don't know if you have tried Dupage Medical Group, Drs. Bernardo, Filipi, Martin, Weeks, etc. I don't think they push c-sections. I had 4 kids with them. 3 of them I had high blood pressure and they did not try to get me to have a c-section, just induced early (39 wks) for my health & health of baby. They are GREAT docs.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I recently gave birth at Edward Hospital, and it was a c-section, however my MD husband and I believe it was 1000% warranted.

I had an emergency c-section at Loyola with baby #1 since had the cord wrapped and was nearly dead. With baby #2 I sought out a practice which would allow me to attempt a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) delivery. A group of Edwards docs allowed me to attempt it (Drs. Badowski, Druzak, Jensen & Pirozhnik - although Dr. Badowski does not participate in VBACs). I had a fantastic experience and would recommend the group to anyone.

I was in labor for 12 hours and did not make it past 2 cm and finally asked for an epidural. After the epidural took effect my blood pressure began to drop and my son's heart rate started dropping-- so we opted not to endanger my son and to go with the c-section, rather than to try to get another 8 cm along. Dr. Jensen allowed me to make the call 100% on my own and did not give even a hint of pressure to have a section. She knew I REALLY wanted to deliver vaginally both for the experience and quicker recovery.

I would not assume that docs perform c-sections in favor of vaginal deliveries as revenue builders. Rather, I think many are so afraid of medical malpractice lawsuits that they often perform c-sections as a way to cover themselves from lawsuits. (I think it is unfair to the medical profession to make statements about caring more for money than for the patients -- I know my husband agonizes over the health of his patients and has formed strong bonds with so many of them.)

Dr Michael Pourtabib delivers about 33 babies a year. He is very experienced. He is based out of Edward Hospital.
As a prenatal yoga teacher, I also have students telling me about ob-gyn that deliver at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora but would need to work to get doctors names for you...In general Bradley Birth training, prenatal yoga, Hypnobirth are all techniques that encourage vaginal child birth (this is not a substitute for having regular medical checkups with your ob-gyn). I also suggest having a birthing consultation with JoAnn Lindberg at www.birthlink.com because she provides advice on birthing.
