Ideas for Sleepover Birthday Party

Ok, first of all -- how lucky you are!! I am so envious -- it sounds like so much fun to plan a little girl's bday party. Some ideas for you:
- Pinata (have your little girl help make it earlier in the week, so she is extra proud and excited! -- paper mache, a baloon or two, and markers and/or tissue paper.
- Scavenger Hunt -- all of the girls work together to find the "booty" at the end (I'm guessing will be an even bigger hit right now w/ Pirates of the Carribean being so popular)
- Decorate your own cupcakes -- with a much smaller birthday cake to blow out candles, as the kids will eat their own cupcakes instead of a piece of a larger cake...make sure to have lots of diff. colors of frosting, sprinkles, red hots, gummy stuff, M&Ms, crushed oreos, etc. -- usually kids LOVE this.

That should help to fill up a good part of the night. I haven't read your other responses yet, so I'm interested in what others have suggested!

P.S.: I tried to give you ideas that wouldn't cost a lot...so many people spend soooo much on birthday parties these days, but I think the kids like the more creative, rather than the more expensive (that is until they reach teenagerdom)!

My daughter who is 7 just had a birthday party and we decorated flip flops. Whe bought the cheap dollar flip flops from target and bright colored cloth. I cut the cloth into strips then her friends tide them around the plastic parts of the shoes and i cut off the extra length. they turned out really cute. we also glued animal forms and letters on sun visors which I got at target. This eliminates buying alot of stuff for goodie bags cause they each get a hat and flip flops. A fun supper idea is for each of them to make their own mini pizza. For the most part the kids are just going to entertain themselves. good luck.

I just did a sleepover for my daughter in june. I did a movie premiere theme. We got her a movie that she had wanted as a present and that was the movie we premiered. I bought red velvet fabric for the red carpet. I provided a huge box of dress up dresses for the girls to wear I also ordered plain white Gift bags from orientla trading company and a bunch of girly stickers and let the girls decorate there own bag as those were to be there evening bags. I also got from the dollar store a bunch of lipglosses and hiar barrets to put in the bags. Before we put in the movie we had the girls walk down the red carpet in there dressup dresses. My friend took pictures with my digital camera and I shot footage with my camcorder. I pretended to be an entertainment news reporter and my friend was the paparazzi.

The party sounds like fun. When my daughter was younger her and her friends loved to play dress up. We would go to garage sales, dollar stores and anywhere to find fun "girly" things to dress up with. The girls would have soo much fun playing and pretending to be princesses or whatever. Then maybe you and you friend could paint thier finger and/or toenails. Make it a fun girly night for all of you. Have fun and use your imagination whatever you choose to do!

How about having a necklace/bead party- have a variety of beads and things they can use to make necklaces and bracelets. Another idea is having them decorate picture frames (they have plastic clear ones with magnetic backing) and then take a picture of all of them (at the beginning of the party) and either print a picture out for each of them, or have your friend take it to a one-hour place. Each child can then go home with a picture/frame from the party.

Above all else, just have FUN!

I only have little boys; however, my oldest is coming up on 8 in another month and my middle is 5 1/2, and it seems to me that the little girls their ages just LOVE craft stuff - something they can bring home with them. I've seen girls make cool looking flip flops - looks like they just tie pieces of fleece fabric on them - I'd ask at Michaels or JoAnn's.
How about necklaces, or decorate their own tiaras - I know Michael's carries those foam tiaras, you could buy some 'jewels' and glittery puffy paint to decorate them.
How about decorating their own picture frames - take pictures of each friend with the birthday girl - if you have a digital camera - print the photos and put them in the frames before they go home. I hope there is some sort of inspiration there. good luck.
