Seeking 6 Year Old Girl Birthday Ideas for April

Both my Daughters, 9 and 7 had their birthday party at Studio Expo in Gates. It was awesome! They all had updo's, makeup, and nails done. It included treat bags, pizza and soda. We paid $20 for each kid, but well worth it. Good Luck!

Try Libby Lu. Hopefully you have one near you. This was a big hit with my daughter. They have a Hannah Montanna package. Look for it on line. It is a store for girly girls and they sell party packages where they do their hair and nails and makeup and they get to make perfumes and lip glosses etc...totally girly!!! They dress up and dance with their party host and have a blast.

For my daughter's 6 yr old party she wanted a fashion show. I bought each girl a cotton t-shirt and skort from target. Then I got fabric markers and some iron on gems. We had one parent in charge of ironing. We then rolled out a red plastic tablecloth runner as a "red carpet" and they did a fashion show at pick up in front of the parents. I went a little overboard and also had: sunglasses, necklaces, rings and flip flops they decorated. One of the cutest parties ever!

My daughter is only 9 months old, but I happened to come across an article in the NY Times that had some REALLY fantastic party ideas, like manicure parties at cute nail salons. The one that is mentioned in the article is the one I go to in the city and I can say that they are wonderful with kids. They even have products that are safer for the little ones. My daughter 5 attended a very fancy tea pary. All the girls wore nice dresses, or costumes. They served finger sandwiches, and tea in real china. The craft project was decorating wands. The birthday girl wore a tiara. The goodybags were little purses. It was adorable!

One of my favorite birthday parties for my daughters had a "tea party" theme. I got out the good dishes and served hot chocolate "tea" and fancy type foods (small sandwiches cut in fancy shapes). The invitation invited the girls to come in their best dress up clothes, but no hats. Then we decorated big picture hats with feathers, tulle, and ribbons. I took a picture of each girl with her outfit + hat and some group shots. Those pictures were used in the thank you notes. Some of those pictures ended up in their senior year book. Having plenty of activites and a grown up atmosphere really helped with behavior issues. The girls are all through college now and still remember the party.

I am not sure if you have already booked something but I just did my daughter's party at Plasterkraze. IT WAS AWESOME!!! The price includes: pizza, drinks, cupcakes or ice cream the item they paint and LOTS of danicing. They even have a disco ball and limbo stick. They were great! I think it was $15.45 a head but with the food and no goody bags needed you are actually saving money. They also have the disney princesses, spider man and ALL kinds of things for them to paint. I had kids from 2.5yrs to 12 yrs and they all had a great time. They are in Stonybrook. I am not sure if you are anywhere near there. But good luck!!!

A Build-A-Bear party is a lot of fun!

I own Celebrating, a children's party place in Smithtown. The girls first come into a room which is set up like a cafe for children for a tea party. They sit at child-sized tables and chairs and we have real china on the tables. After they eat and drink we take them into the next room and do their nails and make up and they play dress up with our accessories. There are beads out which they can use to make jewelry to take home. After that we give them cupcakes, sing "Happy Birthday" and then dance at the end. There is a place called giggles in Rockaway across from the bowling alley, it's pretty inexpensive. Also if you are having the kids at your house and it is warm out--try to do a craft, I had 5 kids last year for my sons 7th birthday and he is also an April child, so we painted birdhouses for spring, they all took them home with them and their parents said that they had the best time because they could relax and watch their kids be creative. I am a mother of a 9 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. I have had great experiences with just about every birthday party we have thrown for my daughter. When she was 6 we threw her a party at the bowling alley. At the time she was a HUGE Scooby Doo fan and we just had it themed up on the alley and in the party room. She loved it. This year she is also into the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus thing. She has asked to do a movie with the girls and a little kareoke. For us parents it might be a little loud, but it will make her and the other girls happy. Good luck in whatever it is that you do.

I am not sure where you are located, but there is a great place in Wilton, CT for birthday parties. It's Michelina's Bakery and the kids participate in making/baking their own cookies or cakes and then get to decorate them. It's really fun and hands-on. Their number is 203 834-cake

I must tell you... We had a friend with a little boy whose birthday was on April Fools day and we filled his pinata FULL with small cuts of mixed veggies. It was the most hillarious thing I have ever seen in the world - a bunch of kiddos scrambling for candy and only to find veggies. I know others who have done the same - only with flour... A bit messy but still funny... Hope this idea will add to the laughs!

Check out some of the places that "do" parties-like the paint a plate place, or others. We took my 5 yr old graddaughter to a restaurant with about 8 other 5 yr old. They loved it-and with birthday bags it was a big hit. With other moms to help, even a shopping trip or a movie followed by pizza and icecream can be fun. Whatever, keep it fairly simple and enjoy.

we did a party once by hermit crab creations .com they came right to the house had many wonderful crabs and colors to choose from and the nice part is no goody bags to worry about. each child went home with a hermit crab cage and everything needed to keep it as a pet. there are also many party options through the monmouth county park system .. and they are reasonable. hope this helps

Last year when my girls turned 6, we had a tea party at a place that specializes in them. Do you have any places like that near you? another thing girls this age love is going to a hair salon and having their hair and nails done, kind of like a beauty party. this year we might have a karaoke party at home.

Have you heard of Cartwheels for Kids in Latham? They are an indpoor gym for kids and offer great birthday packages to fit any budget. Parties range from $85 for the very budget minded to $325 if you really want to go all out! Check them out, even if your just looking for something for the kids to do on a cold day!

We've done a planting part in April -- each child received a pot that they decorated with stickers including letter stickers to put their name on it, had buckets with potting soil that they scooped in, and a flat of panies which are usually out early. The goody bags included seeds for planting.

Why not make a flower cake? Wilton makes a flower cake pan that oy could decorate with the colors from Hannah Montana or you can bake a large rectangle cake and use large biscuit cutters to cut out individual petals and center. Use different colors for each petal and assemble the leftover pieces to make the stem. I found that ckae on Martha Stewart's website and it was very easy and my daughter loved it

I don't know if you have done this before or if you live in the city but how about a craft party?
I recently took my toddler to litte shop of crafts in the city and we had an amazing time. My husband and I can't wait for her to be old enough to have a party for her there.

Oh- there's also bowling parties- if you live in queens I know Woodhaven Lanes has those available.

Also my cousin recenlty did a little chefs party out in somewhere out by Long Island. Don't know all the specifics but I'm sure you can do a web search.

I always keep my out for party ideas- as bdays are a big thing in my family.

i dont know about your daughter but my daughter is 4 and just loves getting her finger nails and toes done.. i am in ny and i know that some nail salons host kids parties where the girls can go and get pampered.. or there are some places that host like glamour girl parties where the kids get to play dress up.. its a big hit...

I have two girls - just turned 6 and 8 and this worked well for us. Rented a town hall (very inexpensive) and then we had 'stations' - we did hair beading and nails with decals and tattoos. We had the usual High School Musical music on and I bought hula hoops and silly string (that was for the end! :). We had a magic show (luckily my brother helped with that) and of course pizza/cake/chips. Then a pinata.

My girlfriends totally helped out with the stations. It was a perfect party for this age and since it was in a rented room - the parents all got to stay and be comfortable and I didn't have to pay that exhorbitant per person charge that they charge for 1 and 1/2 hour parties at the 'party places'.

walmart is now the hub of hannah montana items and apparel.

Hello, I have a daughter the same age. She also is into the same things. You could take a few girls to Libby Lue in Crossgates. They do Birthday Partys there and the girls just love it. They get their hair and makeup done. Or there is Bounce Around, my kids love it there. You don't have any clean up afterwards the kids have a ball.

Hi L.!! I just went to a party at Pump It Up and Once Upon a Treetop which is next door to it. Both were fun. Pump it up had air slides and stuff to clinb and jump on and the other is similar but there are different rooms that the kids can play it...it looks like a small town...they also do crafts there. I don't know where you live and this is out there...Exit 46 on the LIE!!! I have heard that Build a bear is reasonable but they do not provide time for food and cake. They above mentioned have a built it pizza and cake time in the two hour party. Bakeries and Pizzeria Uno have parties where the kids make cookies/pizza and there is Libby Lous out in Roosevelt Field Mall where the kids can dress up and stuff (Not sure how that would be for boys though) Bowling is fun and not too expensive and just an old fashioned get together is great. I don't know pricesof these places though! I went to get my nails done the other day and there were a few litle ones getting their nails done too and then going for cake somewhere!! I know a magician if you want who is reasonable!!! Have fun party planning!!!! I.

How about a pretend sleepover party? Have everyone come in pj's and bring a stuffed animal. My daughter went to one and loved it! The mom bought plain white pillow cases and fabric paint, and the girls decorated their pillowcases first thing as a craft project, watch a Hanna Montana video, karaoke, pillow fights, how about a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar instead of traditional cake? By the time the party was over the pillowcases were dry. You could also decorate picture frames, and then use a digital camera to take a picture of the birthday girl with each friend. Print out the pic's, and the girls have a great party favor without all the sugar and cheap plastic stuff you usually get.

birthdaypartyideas.com is a great site for ideas. Can't tell if you are looking for in the house or out of the house parties - but here's an in-home one that was fun and easy.

When my daughter was 5 we did an "around the world" party for 5 girls. We had 5 activities that we loosely based on different countries (made pita pizzas in Italy, kangaroo races in Australia, decorated the cake in France, pin the tail on teh dragon in China). Instead of goody bags, they got a trinket in each country and a sticker of the flag from that country. (We are into geography in this house.) They got plastic "suitcases" to collect their loot. Took about 2 hours and it was a nice blend of planned activities and free time to just goof off.

I'm planning to take my daughter 4 to The Little Mermaid on broadway. My friend has a niece also 4 who has her birthday the same time. We're going together. Lunch at the American Girl Cafe is a fun thing to do. Book in advance. My daughter also wants a bowling party with the family and friends. I'll get a pizza and cake and it's done.

I too have an April girl turning 6 this year. We're going to my athletic club for a gym/pizza party. In the past years, we have had everyone come dressed as princesses, I've had a make your own pizza party and I've also had a belly dancer come to the house! If she likes animals, try one of the local nature centers, they also have great party options. Depending on where you are out of, there is a great Hannah Montana dance party offered in Randolph by one of the dance schools. SHE IS GREAT!!

A yoga party, look for a local yoga instructor to come and have a class for the kids. It can be a lot of fun.

Hi L., don't know your location...but were I live there are many places that have theme parties...e.i. Hannah Montana or H.S.M. Most places will geer to your kids liking, since you said it was on April Fool's Day, maybe a facility could combine a few different themes. This will keep the kids wondering, sort of a birthday's fool's day.

Check into a local ceramic studio that holds birthday parties. Most studios have a wide variety of children's bisqueware to paint. You can have a Hannah Montana themed party by bringing a cake, party favors, balloons, & music (along with your own CD player). Most of the studios provide you with your own area, help with set-up & will assist your young friends while they express themselves artistically! And then everyone has a keepsake of the wonderful time they had!

A couple ideas--I just found out that you can have a pool party in the No. Syr. Comfort Inn pool for $175. You could also have a "rock star" party at your home where the girls dress up like rock stars. You could probably borrow a Karaoke machine from a friend if you don't have one yourself and then have one of the parents "DJ" a dance party, too.
Beaver Lake does great parties for all seasons, quite reasonably priced, I think.

I have a few ideas. Roller skating, build-a-bear at a local mall (if they have the store), having a party at McDonalds, having a party at Chuck E. Cheese. When are you planning the party for (month)? If its a warmer month, maybe hold something at a local park (with pavilion) or even rent one of those bouncy things they have at carnivals/fairs for the kids to jump in. Or local kids gyms also offer sometype of party package. Even a movie that's out in theaters (matinee). Hope these may help some. Good luck!

How about a build a bear party. I had one last year for my daughter. They are not as expensive as you think because you set the limits and the guides do a really good job making sure you do not go over. Afterwards we took the kids for pizza and cake.

Try doing a Princess party. Maybe they could all dress up like a princess and bring a small item for your daughter and they can make her the Princess of her party when they all get there.

I have a 7 year old daughter and last year a great place opened up in newtown called Vasi's International Gymnastics. I paid $200 for 12 kids. They included the napkins, table clothes, paper plates, forks, spoons, and even ballons. It is an hour in the gym and a half hour upstairs for cake and presents. Everyone loved it. I was already a member there however a few girls joined up after the party. My daughter has already asked if she can do it again this year. I would really look into it. J.

Does she like animals? If so making a donation and having a representative from a local shelter or rescue group come to the party would be both fun and educational plus teach the young children of today that life is not all about them. Your theme could be puppies, kittens and guests could bring in needed items for a rescue or shelter group. Just a thought!! You could even send a party picture to the local paper and share the generosity that was extended to those who need it the most, animals.

If you live near Waldwick ... the kids love in the swing and Kate does a great job running games.
Otherwise a pretend sleepover... over by 8pm... Pizza Pj and a Hannah montana movie or sing a long could be fun.

My kids have always enjoyed a party at the YMCA - with or without swimming. They have a general room for the party where you can do cake and presents, then a play room, and then swimming if you choose. Even as a non-member the price isn't bad.

i don't know where you live exactly or how much money you want to spend. there is a place in plainview, long island called Once Upon A Treetop. we just went for a 2 year old party, but they also do Princess and other theme parties. you can check out their website: www.onceuponatreetop.com. My SIL said they were kind of pricey, but the place and staff were fabulous!

I used to do birthday parties for a living...Since she is an April birthday, you can consider something outside where the kids can run ad go wild without trashing your house. A "Hannah Montana" hunt might be fun..maybe some inexpensive trinket that you can hide around the yard instead of eggs. An obstacle course is really fun, or balloon volley ball is always a super big hit. You can get a cheap badminton net (around ten dollars) and blow up a bunch of balloons. Karaoke is also a big hit for girls that age and I found an inexpensive machine that could be your gift to your daughter for around 35 dollars at Toys R Us, They can sing Hannah Montana songs. Throw in some old glittery thrift shop dresses and they can make it a show. A craft project is always fun and pretty inexpensive. Decorating a frame is great and you can take polaroids of the girls and put them in the frame for a party favor..I could go on and on, but its a start!

try a Peter Pan theme, set up a teepee tent for Princess Tigerlily and her indians, have the kids decorate mini treasure chests or pirate hats, dress up like Tinkerbell or Wendy, for boys dressing like pirates,lost boys or Captain Hook or Peter Pan is always good. if you have a big enough room you could have separate areas and design a part of Neverleand for each area. We did a Peter Pan theme for our five year old daughter last July and it worked really well for both the boys and girls. The only thing I had a problem with was invitations - we ended up making them ourselves

Do a Disney Princess party at your home, but turn your home into a castle:

• Ask guests to wear their fanciest dresses, then provide a box filled with extra dress-up items and costume jewelry for everyone to accessorize with.
• For a magical touch, decorate with a string of white Christmas lights.
• Use pink ribbon and a soft pillow to transform a seat at the party table into a throne for the birthday girl.

THINGS TO MAKE

Make Cinderella type invitations
This sparkly ball shoe, with all the party info printed on the lacy slip-in sock, really fits the bill for announcing a royal birthday celebration. For a template, cut a cardboard high-heel shape (about 3 1/2 inches high and 6 inches long with a wide ankle opening).

For each invitation, fold a 7-inch square of white paper in half so that the crease is at the bottom. Set the template atop it so that the shoe bottom is lined up on the crease and trace around it. Cut out the tracing and use a glue stick to join all of the edges except for the ankle opening. Apply glue to the surface of each shoe and sprinkle on glitter.

With scrap paper, lightly blot the glitter to secure it. From pink card stock, cut out an L-shaped crew sock (about 4 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches tall) to fit inside the shoe. Trace around it to create a sock for each invitation.

Have the kids decorate their own party tiaras.

Instead of pin the tail on the donkey do kiss the frog

What you need:
Green poster board
Red or pink poster board
White paper
Glue
Scissors
Felt-tip pen

To set up the game, draw a big frog on green poster board. It's easier than you think: just make a big oval head with eyes at the top and an hourglass-shaped body with pointy webbed feet at the bottom.

Cut out the frog shape. Then cut out 2 large, white paper eyeballs and glue them in place. Draw on pupils, a mouth, and nostrils.

From red or pink poster board, cut out a pair of lips for each princess and apply a small ball of poster tack (sold at most office supply stores) to the back.

During the game, have each child shut her eyes tight, then point her in the right direction to try to pin her smooch on Mr. Frog. Continue taking turns until everyone succeeds.

Or something of this nature. Make a Disney princesses cake or add your own flair and make a crown cake or something to that effect.

I would suggest crafts! They have Disney Princess pillowcases to color, they just need moms help to iron to "set" the finished product. Then each kid has something to take home as well. Then of course there are beads, you can get some clear elastic and a mix of beads and let the kids make their own creations. Put each bead in a small tupperware that they can pick out from so there is less mess.
