Getting a Baby to Sleep Longer Through the Night.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips, techniques, advice on getting a baby to sleep longer through the night. I have a 7 week old who was sleeping 5 to 6 hours through the night but now is starting to only sleep 3 hours. He does wake up sometimes because he has gas (any advice on that would be helpful too - I think if he didn't have gas he might be sleeping longer too). I breastfeed him and he sleeps in a bassinet right next to me (and every sound he makes tends to wake me up). Thanks for the help.

Still Swaddling and Co-sleeping at 5 Months

We are still swaddling my 5 month old daughter (in the Kiddopotomas SwaddleMe) and putting her in a co-sleeper next to my bed. She is sleeping great - a 10pm to 7am stretch of solid sleep. However, I'm getting anxious that we should stop the swaddling and also put her in her own crib in her own room. People are telling me it's "time". I'm starting work next week, so don't want to make too many changes in her life right now. But I admit she is getting a little too big for her co-sleeper. I also think the swaddling is is affecting her...

1 Month Old Won't Sleep on His Back

Hi moms! I'm a first time mom of a beautiful baby boy. Everythin is going pretty well except for the fact that he does not want to sleep on his back. I'm well aware of the risk factors for SIDS including sleeping on his tummy, too hot, smoke in the home, etc. The only time my 1 month old will sleep on his back is in a swaddleme but that's no good for those hot nights. Please I need some ideas from you moms on what I should do or if I shouldn't worry. I wanted to leave him on his back til he breaks out of it but his father isn't patient...

9 Week Old Baby Sleep Habits

my 9 week old son will not stay asleep unless in the ergo baby or right next to me. we started co-sleeping by accident when he was only a few weeks old. i fell asleep while nursing him and found that he slept for 3 hours at a time. it was great so i kept it up. soon after we purchased a Summer co-sleeper for a safer co-sleeping option. at first he would sleep there from 8-12 pm after being swaddled and nursed, but only a week later, he would wake after just a few minutes of being put down, even if his limbs were limp (as suggested by...

Active Baby Doesn't Want to Nap

my son is 3 weeks old and he is very active. he just doesn't want to sleep during the day. i don't have a problem with this other than the fact that he cries every time i put him down. i would love to hold him all day but it's not practical. i'm lucky to get something to eat during the day and showering is out of the question if my hub isn't home. any suggestions? i have tried a warm bath but that just seems to wake him up more.

How to Transition from Swaddling for Naps and Nighttime Sleep?

Hi - I have a 5 month old who has been swaddled tightly (arms and legs) for sleeping for naps and nighttime since birth. We found that she would wake herself up if not tightly swaddled. Now that she is getting bigger and stronger, we are finding that she is getting out of the swaddle and waking herself up. We are using a large square blanket made specifically for swaddling. Does anyone have experience transitioning from swaddling and getting a baby to learn to sleep well without being swaddled? Thanks!

A Binky Problem...

My daughter is just over a month old and I cannot get her to sleep at night. She seems to fight it. She gets so grumpy around 8 pm so I try putting her to bed. First we rock until she falls asleep so then I take her and lay her in her pack n play. (she is still sleeping in my room) As soon as her binky falls out she starts crying. She will continue to cry until I go in and put it back in her mouth. I have tried to let her fall back asleep on her own but she just gets so upset that it doesn’t happen. We go through the binky ordeal...

sleep......what Is That?

my five week old son started off life sleeping three to four hours a night. and now it seems he is only sleeping an hour and a half to two hours at a time. also, his father is not very helpful during the night time hours and is away all day, so this leaves me with an around the clock job going on two to three hours of sleep. the baby will not sleep flat on his back, which makes everything even harder. help! what can i do to help the baby sleep longer.

She usually dozes off to sleep around 8:30pm and we wake her at 11pm to feed her. after that it is very hit or miss for sleeping. Sometimes she sleeps til 3 some til 2:30. Then she goes back to sleep after she eats til about 6am. Am I expecting too much that she be headed towards sleeping thru...

Sleeping Without a Swaddle?

My son loves to be swaddled, but at 4 months old, he is growing too large for his swaddleme and swaddling with a regular blanket is too loose for his liking. We have been trying to get him to sleep without it (without any luck) because we know there will be a day when we wont be able to keep the swaddle closed. Even if he falls asleep in his swing or in my arms, my son will wake up as soon as he is put into his crib, unless the swaddleme is on. We would like to start using sleep sacks but cannot figure out how to get our son to sleep. ...
