Exzema/dry Skin on My 22 Month Old

my daughter has dry skin all over. Drier patches on her elbows and the back of her arms, her thighs and calves. She scratches her tummy and her upper and lower back often. I have tried lots of creams and stuff and nothing seems to work well. We use cortizone for the itching but her skin is still ALWAYS dry. Is there a different cream that you have used succesfully. I have also thought about putting her on an Omega 3 childrens supplement.

Acid Mantle (Cream Mixed with Hydrocortisone) - Is It Safe?

I have a 15 month old son who has extremely sensitive skin and had horrible ezcema (sp?) since he was an infant. We found out that it was mostly caused by an allergy to pet dander so we had to give up our pug. Well, we have been using a prescription cream on him called A-Mantle since he was about 6 months old that our Pediatric Allergist prescribed (who is associated with CHOP). This cream is a hydrocortisone mixed with some other type of cream. We use it on him practically every single day (since he still has ezcema). I specifically...

6 Month Old with Penile Adhesion

At about 2 months of age, I noticed that my son had a tiny penile adhesion. The dr. said to put some hydrocortisone on it for two weeks and it should go away. At his 4 month appt, they said it probably wouldn't go away on it's own now and that he should see a pediatric urologist. I took him to the urologist last week and he wants to give him anesthesia and then take care of it. My husband and I are worried about giving him the anesthesia at such a young age. I've read a lot of things on the internet and it sounds like sometimes these...

Toddler's Urine Irritates His Skin

My 2-year old son has been trying out the potty. Usually he sits on it every night before bed (in addition to other times). The last few nights, he has peed while on the potty and some of his urine has ended up on the toilet seat (one that sits on top of the regular toilet seat). Within seconds he starts crying and scratching at his butt and genitals. I can tell it is irritating his skin and it makes him clench up his muscles and collapse. Tonight, he scratched so hard it made him bleed. We have given him Benadryl and put...

14 Month Old with Excema and Psoriasis

Hi, my almost 14 month old son has been having major skin issues since about April when I slowly started to wean him. It started out as excema behind the knees which was treated and gone, then some impetigo on his upper arms that turned into weeping sores, then cleared up with a very heavy duty corticosteriod. Then a few weeks later he came down with some sort of virus and shortly after that had these horrible bumps all over his body...I had never seen anything like it. I took him to a dermatologist and they had to take a biopsy out of...

Can Prolonged Use of Hydrocortisone Cream Affect Growth of Child?

Hello moms. My 18 month old boy has chronic eczema since he was 6 months old and have been using a hydrocortisone cream prescribed by our pediatrician. We have been applying this cream, a 2.5% formulation cream since he was an infant with varying degrees of eczema relief. He has needed it on a daily basis and we have been applying it twice a day to his ankles, wrists and behind the knee--the areas that are affected. We also use Aquaphor and pretoleum jelly emollients to relieve his dry skin. We have not asked our pediatrician though...

My 18 month old daughter has been coughing a lot and then itching in her ears. No temp, but she has had a history of ear infections so I took her to the Dr. today. Doctors Won't Help My One Year Old with Her Allergies

My daughter just turned 1 last week. She had colic and excema when she was first born. Her pediatrician thought she might have a protein allergy and put her on Nutramigen. We moved to another city and have been through five pediatricians now. Since coming off of Nutramigen and trying solids her excema has come back, she has a constant runny nose and a cough. She scratches so bad she makes her legs bleed. All the doctor's say here is that she has a viral infection. She has had severe symptoms since December and we can get no help. She...

Toddler Scratching Top of Buttock

Hi. Has anyone experienced their toddler scratching the top of their buttocks until it's red and almost bleeding? He scratches up near the waist band of his Huggies diapers. Now, it's sort of bumpy and very red. I've read online that this may be a sign of pinworms. He's not scratching down by his Anus...but up at the top. Has anyone had a similar experience with their toddler?

Doc Says to Start Rice Cereal at 4 Mo

Hi moms, At my son's 4 month check up appt this morning, the doctor recommended starting rice cereal. I'm just a bit weary of this and here is why.... Brayden was born 3 1/2 weeks early, and I have noticed in the last few months that he is slightly behind in his developmental milestones- Not anything to worry about as he catches up quickly. He is also in the low percentiles for growth, but again, I was told that he is within normal limits and that it takes a little time to "catch up" when they are preemies. ALSO, Brayden also has ezcemca...
