I would love to have some custom bedding made for my daughter's twin size bed. I have searched the net and have been astounded by the prices.

Here I go, pimping out my Mom again...

Her site is: www.JudyChristenson.blogspot.com

It is mostly country stuff on there, but she does wonderful bedding as well. She made my kids crib sets and it is something that will be passed down from generation to generation.

If you are interested, email me at ____@____.com because my mom is a sewer, not a computer person!

And, as far as price, she WAY undercharges!

My daughter just started kindergarten so I am now taking on more sewing projects. I am starting a website www.teacupsandsaucers.com. Right now I am right now in the middle of a bunch of halloween costumes but could start on Nov 1st. I don't quilt, I mostly do duvet covers. If you want a quilt I do piece the top but then send them out for quilting.

Warmest regards,
M. S

There is a website that I belong to called Etsy.com. This is a place for folks to buy and sell home made products. You might want to check it out. I have a shop on there too. You can join the site and do what is called an "alchemy" listing. This is where people post what they are looking for and take bids from Artists. Perhaps you could find someone on there that would be ale to make what you are looking for. I get referral points so if you join mention my site: LittleSnowflakes Or you can email me and I can send you an invitation. Sorry, I can't list my shop directly... the moderators told me they would pull my post.

I agree with baybimamma, try http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/

You have to be a registered member to use etsy, but it is free and easy to do. And you will never have to look anywhere else for handmade items again!

Check at your dry cleaners with some of the ladies there. Many times they are seamstresses and they will do something like this on the side. My cousin found someone that way to do her infant room.

Just wanted to say, remember that for beds the fabric has to be one big consistent piece (like for duvet covers, comforters, sheets, etc) so sometimes fabric like that must be special-ordered. That's why it is so expensive.

Big companies have access to those fabrics all the time so that's why they can sell them for less.

Also, 200 thread count is cheapest but also the lowest quality. If you go higher, even 300 or 350, you will pay a LOT (just check out the prices of retail sheets to compare). Just for twin sheets of 300 count, I bet the cost would be $40 at least. So custom would be even more. And that's just for sheets.

I just wanted to put in my 2 cents so that maybe when you look online the high prices might make more sense.

In Arlington on Bowen, there is a store called Baskets and Quilts by Bless. She Has tons of hand made quilts already made, but will make one the way you want. Sorry I don't know pricing. I know for a small one (like for a crib or toddler bed) they are around $65. I think for Queen size they are around $600. Good Luck!

Look at etsy.com and their "alchemy" feature--you can request want you want and prices, and people will bid for your patronage. You are not obligated to accept any of them, but may find what you need! :)

Depending on what kind of custom you have in mind, you might find it more economical to buy a very nice plain comforter and have it embroidered with her name, monogram, a design - whatever.

I think you're going to have to spend a bundle for custom, I did a little searching myself a year back and decided not to spend 500+ on bedding. You could get the look of custom by mixing and matching the right way and also with lots of pillows. Depends on the look you want, shoot me an email with more info and maybe I can give you some ideas. I did what I call shabby chic luxe look for my daughters room, and loved it.

I made my little ones bedding my self and have worked on various other projects for people at a very affordable price. It can be cheaper or more expensive than store bought depending on the fabrics you want to use. Do you know what you want? Have pictures? Etc. Check out my blog cebbysworkshop.blogspot.com and shoot me an email if you are interested In me doing the job for you. You can send me your ideas and I'll let you know if I am able to help and how much it would cost.
Thanks!
