I live in a small condo (with no yard or patio)in San Jose, and don't know what to do for my son's 2nd birthday party (Oct 11). My husband is afraid to do it at a park on the chance it might rain/be cold... I am trying to avoid doing the Chuck E Cheese thing, does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I had my daughter's 2nd birthday at Gymboree. It was so fun and she still talks about it (she will be 4 this December). They get to play on the equipment and then they will cut the cake for you. You don't need to worry about any cleanup. Good luck and have fun!

Theme Fest in San Jose (off of Santa Teresa and Bernal). It is great. I just had my son's 3rd b-day and the kids loved it. There is all different things for them to do. Check out the website . . .www.themefest.com

Another vote for Pump it Up - I belong to a moms group that goes there from time to time. Most of the kids in the group are in the 2yr age range and they all LOVE it!

PumpItUp? It's full of bounce-houses... we haven't been there but have heard good things in our two LasMadres groups.

Do a western theme and go to Lazy H Pony Ranch in Half Moon Bay. It is very REASONABLE. We had a party there a few years ago and it was $250 for the day and that included 6 ponies, two handlers, use of the shelter and grill. They do lead pony parties....parents lead kids around the ring. The two handlers are there to keep things going and makig sure all are safe. We had a blast!

We just had my son's 6th birthday at ThemeFest in south San Jose near Bernal. It was very fun, I know my son enjoyed it but I wish it had been around when my son was younger. Check out the website or just google it. It has one large main room with various themes; Jungle, Western, Pirate and Castle. Plus extra rooms for Kareoke, Art & Games. They even have a nursing area and a block playing room for crawlers. After the playing the party continues in a different room for snacks, pizza & cake. It is all on a schedule and you can custum order the timeframe for your event. Anyway we enjoyed it very much! http://www.themefest.com/

Check out the Round Table at 14940 Camden Ave (Camden/Union). They have a play area perfect for the little ones and you can even reserve a big room if you need it. Its definitely less chaotic than Chuck E Cheese.
