Strange Things in Strange Places...

Searched high and low for DH's car keys and finally found them in the "ignition" of my boys Little Tikes car. Perfectly reasonable place for a kid!

DEFINITELY the peanut butter and honey sandwich in the video machine--back when we did not have DVD's yet!

We had to get a new machine.

When my oldest was a toddler we had gone swimming at my brothers apartment pool. It had rained and there were little frogs EVERYWHERE. When we were done and were changing clothes my son started pulling all these little frogs out of his pockets ! I just started laughing.

I have a 200lb English Mastiff and found a small baby dolls head & dress in his poop! hahahaha! I'm not quite sure where my Daughter put her doll that enabled him to eat it, I assume she threw it out onto the patio where he was laying. The doll was only like 3 inches tall, a very small doll. But I was sure surprised when I seen a face staring up at me from a pile of poop I was picking up in our backyard! I couldn't believe it! hahaha

My oldest sons school required them to wear a special red shirt on field trips. We knew he had multiple red shirts and were getting kind of frustrated because we could never find them and kept having to buy more. Eventually we started having trouble with the vents in the boys room, turns out my second son (about 18 months at the time) had been removing the vent cover and stuffing all red cloth into the vent for some time, it was FULL! Crazy kids!

We are moving out o state next week and very busy packing, so things are even more chaotic than usual.
Just today, I stopped my daughter from putting her spoon in the trash, found a lego piece in my slipper when I got up (ouch!), plastic food in the fridge (a plastic hamburger made of plastic bread, meat, cheese, tomato slice and lettuce leaf!), a dinosaur on my desk, a wet opened tea bag on the carpet (from the trash) and all over my daughter (she is in a trash bin-fascination-phase!: things even go in or go out so I always double check the trash before closing the bag!)

The strangest thing for me was to find a few month ago 12 lego pieces instead of eggs in the egg box in the fridge. But my son didn't see what was strange in that LOL

Well let's see, where do I start? When you have kids and plenty of them it seems this is just part of the territory...

My underware in the car. ( no not as the result of a tryst in a vehicle) Poker chips in the soap dish. Keys that went missing and required the services of a locksmith inside of a fence post we later removed. Childrens books and toys in my brief case. Toilet paper on the dining room table ( thankfully unused) Rotten plum in the bathroom cabinet. Candle stick holders under the seat of our vehicle. Dirty teen aged boy's socks pretty much everywhere, back yard, living room, dining area, front porch, vehicles, in my tote bag.....

My oldest took a bunch of jenga pieces and tied them up in his dress socks. He was 2 or 3. I found them all over the house. I still have them in a box in my closet :)
My second oldest used to take my jewelery and squirrel it away in his dresser when he was a toddler.

I am a doula and I was at birth, right as my client was getting in to active labor and I had to suppress a laugh because I opened up my doula bag (a hard overnight case with a zippered top half) to retrieve something, and opened the zippered half to find a cat sized tennis ball sitting amongst the tools. You see my little one is no longer a child but a 20 pound pug who LOVES putting his toys IN things. I must have had it laying open arranging it before the birth.

we have a little fuzzy wind up hamster that lives in my fridge. i take him out, he finds his way back. right by the eggs.

String cheese and a train spike in one pocket of a pair of jeans...after it had gone thru the wash! Good reminder for myself to ALWAYS check the pockets before doing the wash....boys, gotta love 'em!

We have a ten gallon goldfish tank on top of my son's dresser. He usually knows to leave it alone. But, one day a few months ago, when he was supposed to be taking a nap, he came wandering into the office, where I was working on the computer, and I heard him muttering to himself, "My mom is going to be VERY DISAPPOINTED in me." That struck terror into my heart--as well it should! As I followed him back to his room, he kept muttering inintelligible gibberish about fish and food and who knows what else. Upon opening his bedroom door, I was first struck by an overwhelming fishy smell. Then the aquarium caught my eye. It was COMPLETELY filled with a feast of toy foods, aquarium supplies (new, unopened, still in the boxes), other sundry toys, and a bright orange doll blanket (maybe to keep the fish warm???) on the top! All three of the poor, traumatized fish were huddled in the one corner of the aquarium that was completely filled with toys. Furthermore, to top it all off, the actual fish food (small, pellet style) had not been given to the fish, but spread all over the bedroom--including the dresser drawers, the train table, and the floor. It was one of those situations when I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I turned my back and laughed. Then I got my son safely out of the way before grabbing the camera and taking a picture!

My son has a little blanky that he must take with him everywhere...so of course it gets lost constantly and pops up in th strangest places. My favorite was when I found it, ice cold, in the crisper in the fridge. It has been missing for days!

Empty cookie and candy wrappers in the closet.

My husband reminded me of a story that happened to us of the opposite- he had been gardening and lost his wedding ring in the garden. Our son found the wedding ring months later while digging in the dirt with his toy dump truck.

My daughter loved to put little toys in my husband's work boots - little people. balls, puzzle pieces, anything she could get her hands on. Although she doesn't do it anymore, my husband can't seem to break the habit of checking his boots before putting them on.

She would also hang things from door knobs, drawer pulls, etc - still does. One of her favoirte items to do this with is my watch. She calls it "decorating".

My son has little glow-in-the dark dinosaurs. He "keeps" them under the lamp shades in our living room (our lamps are box shaped with the top flat surface about 2 inches below the bottom of the lampshade) so that the dinos will be "charged" when he wants to look at them in the dark.

Years ago my nephew had been playing with my mother's house keys as a young toddler. Later, after he had returned home, my mom was leaving and could not find her keys...anywhere. Moved furniture, checked the garbage can...everything. Couldn't find the keys. Fast forward ten plus years later, my mother had to completely clear out the cabinet under her kitchen sink (not sure why...broken pipe, cabinet replacement etc). There were the keys. He had quietly tossed the keys to the back of the cabinet behind the cleaners etc. No one saw him even open the cabinet, let alone toss the keys inside.

ADD: This same nephew was outside playing with his buddies as a young school aged child. Someone tossed a Woody (of Toy Store) figurine character onto the garage roof. To this day, Woody has remained on the roof in full view. My nephew is 23. It's a conversation piece everytime someone new comes over for a backyard party.

Good one, I have many of these things happen at our house and they make us laugh. How about finding a fairly new digital camera in the bottom of the washing machine after it had run, when visiting at my parents home out of state. THe camera course was nice and sparkly clean, but ruined :(
Only thing we can figure out is camera was place on a little nick-nack shelf above the laundry hamper in guest bed room I was staying in for the visit. Hamper was open-style, with no lid. Some how the camera fell off the shlef and into the hamper, it was covered in dirty clothes (without anyone knowing it was in there). The whole load was pulled out to wash, and thus the camera went with the big load into the washer. Don't be lazy and not sort the clothes by color when washing, even on vacation. I always do this not sure why I didnt this time????. Now I laugh about it but expensive lesson learned :D

I was cooking dinner and there was this awful burning smell. I lifted the pot off of the burner, and sure enough, a toy car and a large leggo had been thrown in the hole of the burner. kids.

This was before kids..., but pets are just like kids.

I forgot to put away the leftover corn on the cob one night after letting it cool in the pan. By morning, I saw it still on the stovetop and looked in the pan. The ear left in the pan was half eaten and the other was no where to be found. I think our cat got up on the stove and tossed one ear to the small cocker spaniel we had and he kept one for himself. My hubby at the time, swore that his dog could not have eaten the corn, cob and all, his mouth was too soft. Well, then you explain where it went....

My husbands keys were MIA for months!! We asked our then 3 year old and he said "I don't know" like he answers most questions...Anyway, we finally found them when we were packing up to move and our son had put them in a small, wooden boat that had a itty bitty drawer just the right size for a set of keys. Our little guy also misplaced my cell phone for days. Unfortunately, the battery had died so we could not call it to locate it. A week or so later when my hubby went to fill the fridge up with some diet pepsi he found my phone in the pop box!
I keep thinking of more! I'll never forget the time my son filled up all the pockets of his cargo pants with rocks and they all went through the wash!!
Our youngest is infatuated with the pantry. I am constantly finding toys stashed all over in there. On the floor, on the shelves, inside cereal boxes, inside the toilet paper rolls, in with the fish crackers. He will even get his stool out and take it in there so he can put them up higher! He also likes to steal some of the dogs food and randomly place pieces throughout the house. I've found dog food in the washing machine, dish washer, toilet, garbage, toy box and in his diaper!!

Our little girl had apparently gone into our bedroom earlier in the day, unbeknownst to us. That night, as I approached my side of the bed to go to sleep, I saw a Fisher Price "Little People" person standing there on the edge of my bed, looking at me. For some reason, I found it utterly adorable, and it made my heart ache, and made me miss my daughter, who was just in the other room asleep. So that's the CUTE moment.

The STRANGE moment: My daughter eats in one of those Fisher Price (I swear, this isn't an add for them!) chairs that you can strap your kid into as soon as they can sit up, and strap it to any chair at a table, or on the floor. You can adjust the height by extending the stumpy "legs" underneath. When you have it set up on the legs, there is a nice "tunnel" between the big chair and the little kids' eating chair. She loves to put her hair bows, Little People persons (and whatever other toy fits) under there, in the the fun "tunnel". I can't tell you how many times toys have gone missing and I'll find them a week or two later, under the chair.

I can't remember right now any, BUT she must have put her "y" from her Melissa & Dough puzzle some crazy place because that damn piece have been lost for months!!!!
We don't take toys outside home and I have look EVERY WHERE, seriously, I have move furniture, and looked in the most odd places and nothing, nada!
Is driving me crazy, lol
Oh, and this puzzle is the one that has sound, so when we use to have it in her room and I forgot to cover the "y" we will hear when it gets dark: "Y is for Yo-Yo" and if we were lazy, as soon as it was some day light it will do it again. We have it now in the living room but I still can hear it sometimes and its driving me crazy don't be able to find the damn piece!
Kids

Just this week I picked up my 7yo grandson from an in home daycare and he handed me 3 disposable diapers folded up like you fold them after removing them soiled from the baby's bottom. They felt damp, even. My immediate response was to hand them back to him and tell him to put them in the garbage. I was sure one contained poop. The daycare person laughed and said they only contain his stuffed animals. Sure enough. What I thought was poop was a little black bull dog.

My granddaughter has eczema and when she was a toddler, she smeared nearly a whole jar of moisturizing cream on the fabric foot stool in her room. What's good for her skin is also good for the furniture. She did not understand why that was a problem or why her mom wouldn't let her have the jar anymore.

my 6yr old daughters zu zu pet, ice cream, would stop talking one night so she came in my room and put it in my underwear drawer! my 5 yr old puts stuffed animals in the mop bucket and in the entertainment center. She also likes to hide change in the toothbrush container in the bathroom! I could proly name alot more silly things in silly places if I thought about it!

LOL. Thanks for the chuckle. My son loves to hide stuff and when he was really young (not even walking yet- he was still doing the knee walk I think), I found a few little stuffed animals inside one of my pots (with the lid on) in a lower kitchen cabinet.
