Preschool Nap Schedule Different from Home

My 2 year old son just started attending preschool two days a week. They eat lunch at 11:00 am and nap from 12-2 pm. However, at home, he eats lunch at 12 pm and naps at 1:30 pm. They say he lays on his mat at school and sometimes falls asleep for a little bit (usually towards the end). At home, he sleeps great at his normal time. I feel like 12 pm is too early for a nap but I also don't want him not getting naps at school.
Should I let him have two nap schedules or should I adjust his schedule at home to be the same time as school so that he sleeps better when he is there? HELP!

What can I do next?

If it were me, I'd adjust the home nap, or be prepared to have him go to bed earlier on preschool days, since it's only two days a week. Tough call! As a former toddler teacher, it is more difficult for us to have a no-napper at this age, but after the 'usual' nappers were asleep, we'd let them look at books on their cot or play quietly at the table.

If you are really wanting him to nap at school, then yes, adjust the home schedule. Get him up earlier if need be/doable for you.

adjust to match the school. THey have lots of kids to get to sleep you only have 1, they are not going to modify the school schedule for him so you need to modify yours to fit theirs.

Adjust his home lunch and nap schedule to match his school's. The preschool isn't going to change theirs (and I'm not saying you suggested that) plus little ones benefit by schedules and routines, it helps them to know what to expect, which in turn makes them more secure. Tweak his getting up time and bedtime if necessary.

They do their schedule this way, because so many of the children wake up so early to get ready to go to preschool.. Between 6 and 7 am.. They play outside during the morning.

Are starving at lunch and totally ready for their nap. This is also good, because the the children are ready for bed at a good time..

Try waking your child up earlier in the morning.. He will be ready for nap time.

I personally would adjust his schedule some at home..maybe 12:30 - 2. If my kid sleeps past 2 (when she napped) she would NEVER go to sleep at night.

What time does he get up? If he is OK with the 2:00 nap at home perhaps you could keep that. Do you need to wake him a little earlier on pre-school days so that he is ready for nap time?

Adjust your schedule unless you want the preschool to adjust theirs or the pre-k classroom in a couple of years to adjust theirs or even the future Kindergarten classes to adjust theirs. All schools do lunch early then lay down for naps. I am surprised you guys eat so late and lay down so late.

If he had older siblings you would have to be waking him up each and every school day to go pick them up.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback! Since we have been successfully using this schedule since he was 9 months old, I was so confused. I didn't know whether to adjust his home schedule or allow him to try to have two different schedules. I am so obsessed with my children being on schedules and I would have never considered asking the school to adjust their schedule!
I will try some of the suggestions and see what happens. It's nice to be able to reach out to other mothers without being judged or criticized. Sometimes, women can be so critical and judgmental of each other, it's nice to have a safe forum.
