If it is that bad and you don't have an improvement in 24 hours from when you started taking meds, I would recommend going to your eye dr. My husband got from my son early in the year went to the general dr and it wasn't getting better so went to our eye dr. Who gave him completely different meds for the pink eye which worked much better and yes he got multiple drops because his eyes were really swollen.

place warm tea bags over your closed eyes to relieve the swelling, it should take only a few days for the meds to start working...

put some icepacks on your eyes. this will help with the swelling. Did they give you antibiotic drops? It may take 2-3 days to feel better once you have some medicine. Remember pink eye is contagious. Change your pillow care every night. You do not want any other family member to get it. wash your hands and do not rub your eyes. I had pink eye and i know it sucks. I would close your eyes in the shower and use some baby shampoo and wash the eyelids and around your tear ducts. This will not sting and will help with the cakey dried stuff you will have when you wake up. I hope you feel better.

My daughter (23) thought she had pinkeye, and her regular doctor gave her drops for it. She continued to have pain and sensitivity to sunlight for another couple days and finally couldn't stand it anymore so she went to an eye specialist. Turns out she had a corneal ulcer. Do you wear contacts? That's what most likely caused hers -- something under the contact. Maybe you should see a specialist if it's still this bad tomorrow. Corneal ulcers can cause permanent eye damage.

So, did you get medicine for it?
Conjunctivitis is contagious.
They I assume, gave you antibiotic eye drops for it?
There are viral and bacterial Conjunctivitis.

If you are taking medicine/eye drops for it, then it will get better. In a couple of days. But you STILL have to continue using the medicine, even if you feel better, for the entire course of 7-10 days.
