i am currently in my 4th month of pregnancy and on bedrest. i already have an amazing little boy who just turned 2 in june. I am looking for some advice/opinions on some local preschools. i live in east meadow but am willing to take him to any surrounding towns. I know most have 3yr old programs and some do start at 2. Before i just start calling random places, i am looking for whatever info u can give me including your experience and program days per week and cost. thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

We love Firehouse Nursery School. It is on the corner of Tabor Street and N. Jerusalem, close to Newbridge Rd. It is a small co-op preschool that has been there since the 50's. I'm pretty sure it is full for this school year, but it's worth a try to see. Maybe not for the toddlers or Mommy and Me. Otherwise I would contact them in January to enroll for next year.
My son went there last year 2 afteernoons(turned 3 in Oct.) For the 2 year olds I think they just have two half days. For the kids who were three/four during the school year, they have either 2 pms or 3 ams. NOt sure on exact costs but 2 pms was $150/month because it is a co-op. I participated as a teaching assistant 4 times in the year. This coming year, my son will be in the PreK (4/5 year old class) 4 mornings per week and it is $190/month. There is also 3 afternoons for the PreK class. He is very happy there adnd I would highly recommend it! (I am a teacher so I have certain expectations that they definitely meet! Good Luck!

I also live in EM and my 2 (soon to be 3) year old has been going to Kiddie Junction in Levittown. He loves it there. I chose it b/c I wanted a place with a separation class and they also don't require potty training. The separation class was great. We did it last spring and then he went to the summer camp 2 days/wk 3 hours each day. He'll start again after labor day.

I also live in East Meadow my daughter is starting her second year at Calvary Luteran Nursey school on Taylor Ave. it is wonderful. She started at 3 and will now be starting again next week. I believe they have a mommy & me for the two year olds. But that really have a nice program. My oldest went to Big Chief many years ago but I was working then and I needed the bus transportation. But Calvary is really nice, clean and caring.

hi are you looking for something in someones home a school? schools can be great but more one on one with another child, your sons age might be even better. Well in my experience i also have a 2 year old son i don't live far from you i am in bellmore. I have been a nanny for years and the little boy i took care of is my sons age and it was great for them both they got play time with each other sharing was alot easier and they want to read and do things together every day, there was no compatition for attention of other kids. None of the fighting hitting or picking up bad habits. Every child id different my 3 1/2 yr old daughter loved school. But if you are looking for a more home based schooling. please let me know i dont really charge much at all cause i love kids and it gives my son a playmate to share with.
