In the Market for New Refrigerator and Wanted Some Opinions

Just wanted some opinions about the new refrigerators that are french doors and have pull out freezer below? Do you like those?
Anyone have recommendations for best place to buy big appliances. I have visited Sears and likely to go there around Labor day when their online sales chat person said is their biggest sale plus free delivery -- but just wanted some feedback on brands/and if you had a favorite fridge etc.

What can I do next?

I am in the middle of building a new house and just dropped a big bundle on the appliances... ALL of which I highly researched via Consumer Reports, reviews, etc..!

We ended up with a Samsung 26cu ft French door bottom freezer with ice maker/water on the door. We didn't get the LED display or any of that, the model number is RF267AERS and we shopped at Texas Appliance. They will absolutely BEAT any online or local competitor. We probably saved about 8K total with them (including the professional range)!

Please let me know if you would like a contact over there or what we actually paid :)

Good Luck!
E.

Make sure you check with Consumer Reports to find out the quality of the fridge you want to buy is worth the price. I have had great success using Consumer Reports before buying big ticket items like appliences. Best of luck!

Personally, I've bought a lot of refrigerators as I move (upgrade the one in the house or have to purchase a new one as builders don't provide) and I've learned, I actually hate the french doors with bottom freezer. I currently have an LG brand one right now. It has the french doors on top and two freezer drawers below. The freezer drawers aren't deep enough to hold a lot so I often find that items will get pushed to the back and as I open the drawer it pushes that item to fall into the back. I then have to heave the heavy basket full of frozen items out just to retrieve the item. Also, because the drawers in the refrigerator section are cooled by the freezer I've still never found the magic temperature to stop things from freezing in those drawers, it is so frustrating, one drawer I don't use altogether because it's the worst of them. I've called LG and Sears where we got it and i've been told it's just the way french door fridges work. The fridge I loved the most out of all of them has been a Kenmore Elite model side by side that had the faux stainless steel look so I could still use magnets and display my kids artwork and it didn't have the nasty issue of fingerprints that are a nightmare to clean on a traditional stainless one. That's just my opinion:)

Fridges are SUCH a matter of personal preference. The kind you mention is MY absolute favorite (I'm actually lusting over a fridge, sigh, ... you know you've grown up when). We've moved a lot as well, but now that we own, I cannot cannot cannot wait to replace ours. We have the single door, bottom freezer... and it's great, but doesn't have anywhere near the space that the french door ones do.

The bottom freezer fridges (regardless of what's on top) come in a HUGE variety/ difference in space and arrangement. My friends have "my" fridge (sniff, the one I want), it has double the space (cubic footage) as my bottom freezer, and the drawers butterfly out/ rearrange, so you have a lot of customizing you can do.

STRONG second on Consumer Reports. Worth every penny.

Well, I just can not warm up to the freezer on the bottom styles (I'm weird like that), but I do have a french door kitchenaid fridge with the ice maker in the door-lots of space, energy efficient, I'm pleased with it!

I think we have what you're describing. Double doors for the fridge and then the freezer underneath. We love it! I think we bought ours at Home Depot, but that was because there were no other stores close by with it. I'd suggest choosing the one you want, then searching local stores for the least expensive one. We really like it a lot.

I have a Sears Kenmore Elite. French Doors on Top and Freezer on the bottom. I guess since having a freezer on bottom, doesn't bother me, I don't understand why it does others. *But the reason I have this fridge is because friends and relatives recommended a side by side which I HATED, HATED!!!! Yes, I did hate it that much! ;) So I was thrilled to get rid of it. I did do a lot of research before and at the time this model was rated very high and we've not had any problems. It also has the ice and water in the door.
*Personally, in our 25 year marriage, I have had very few appliance NOT from Sears and a Kenmore. And the few I did buy somewhere else, I wasn't happy with. I realize though, that every has their own experiences.
Oh, and we do have an upright deep-freeze as well, so that helps.

We have the Samsung with the French doors & love it! We bought ours at Lowe's because they have the only model with an ice maker in both the door and in the freezer. Low's was great to work with and even gave me a $200+ price adjustment when it went on sale for even less. Their delivery guys were great also!

I have a fridge like that and absolutely love it! I love it mostly b/c if I want something out of the fridge, I can just open it and not bend down to look into it. My fridge is very big and roomy. I would try the Sears Scratch/Dent outlet. I think it's in Carrollton. Kenmore is a great brand to use.

I have a Kitchen Aid and I love it. We have replaced most of our appliances with Kitchen Aid... the highest level they have.

I have the side by side and the ice is stored in the door for more room on inside of the freezer section.

We've purchased them at Best Buy and I feel like we've done well. We are in the silver rewards, etc and get points when we routinely purchase things. I had enough points accumilated when we bought the fridge to get 3-4 replacement filters ($40 each) free!!

LOVE kitchen Aid.

I have a Kenmore Elite French Door bottom freezer and am pretty happy with it. NO freezer/refrig combo is going to do everything/be everything you want. The freezers just aren't going to be big enough... and something has to be on the bottom where it is difficult to reach/see... if you get a side-by-side, then some things in both refrig and freezer sections will be difficult to reach/see. But I love how much room and how much stuff I can fit into the french door top section. And the pull out drawer along the bottom of the top section is the full width so I can put party trays in there if I need to.

I've not had any functional problems with mine at all. It's almost 6 yrs old now. I'd buy the same one again.
