Hi all,

I have been out of college for awhile and a (male) cousin of mine is graduating high school. My husband and I want to get him something good- but useful as well. I can't remember anything significant given to me by extended family. any and all suggestions appreciated!

What can I do next?

We give one of the following or sometimes both lol depending on how close we are to the family.

a round laundry basket. inside the basket I put the following.... box of bounce, a big bottle of laundry soap, small bottle of bleach, something like shout, a shout stick, small garbage bags, air freshener, package of plastic hangers laundry bag and a typewritten list of directions on how to do the laundry.

CASH (this would be the one that most kids like the best lol)

The book The Purpose Driven Life. It's a great time of life to be considering what their role really is in this world!

Towels, dishes, etc...anything useful to create a "home" of his own when he moves out.

Happy Friday!

We are getting my beloved babysitter who is amazing and I have nothing but good to say about her a Kindle from Amazon. She can browse the internet, and to save money, she can purchase the e-book version of some of her text books at college. She also loves to read, so it's obiously good for that too.

Is he going away to college? If so, you can get him stuff for his dorm, or you can get him a gas card if he has a car. I would of loved a grocery store gift card when I was in college.

Money is always good. I got my Godsons Axe cologn and body wash. They loved that. Before school starts I get them some groceries to take. Laundry detergent is good. You could offer to buy is bedding for the dorm. Good luck!!

Money.

The amount depends on your budget, etc.

I had a cousin's son whom I've never met send an announcement to me and I sent him $25.

My nephew we are close to received $500. He is a great student, athlete , he was accepted to 5 great colleges so he got his top pick plus he will be wise with the $$.

If he is going away to college money is always a good gift, suit cases (I remember getting a nice set from my aunt and it was hepful), or gift cards to a place or two that are in the college's area. Gift Card ideas: grocery store, target, walgreens, starbucks, college's book store, amazon, gas station, barnes and noble.

If he is going to a local college and living at home maybe stick with a gift card to the college's book store, credit card gift card, or cash.

If he is not going to college try to get hims something related to what he will be doing. Credit card gift card or gas card, does he like a certian magazine you could get a year subscription for him, saving for college give a check for him to add to that account.
