How young was your child when you started work again/child care? I saw a sign for a daycare that said it starts care for 6 week old's and up. Just got me wondering...

Thanks in Advance

12 weeks every time. That is all I am entitled to under FMLA. First time family watched my daughter till she was 9 mos, then she went to a daycare center; 2nd time son went straight to daycare at 3 mos; this time, we have an au pair that will care for baby after 3 mos (as well as the other 2 toddlers/preschoolers).

Two weeks is the youngest chile I have ever had, but it was my niece and it was part time. 6 weeks is the youngest child I would accept on a regular basis.

I started work part time at 4 weeks and full time at 9 weeks. DS started daycare (3 days/wk) at 9 weeks. 6-8 weeks is fairly standard.

i went back full time at 12 weeks. I couldn't imagine going earlier - I was still a mess then and had no desire to but had to do it. I feel terrible for moms who had to do it earlier than that. it is awful to see how our country compares with other nations with respect to standard maternity leave.

Not sure what your actually wanting to know...... but I had a C-section so it's 8 weeks. But I used vacation time and instead of taking an extra 2 weeks off I 'spread it out' and 'transitioned. So, the first 2 weeks back I worked 2 days (so her first week of daycare was at 8 weeks, but she was only there 2 days those first 2 weeks). Then the next 2 weeks I worked 3 days (equalling one 'week' of vacation used). Then the next 2 weeks I worked 4 days and then I went back full time and saved the other 3 days I had left for Dr appts, sick etc. before I had to take any unpaid time. Plus, if you use all your FMLA and your sickpay and your vacation then you can be replaced if you start taking time off to care for your kids. The US FMLA only allows 12 weeks per year - so after that and your paid benefit time, your employer doesn't have to keep you.

My daughter was 12 weeks. Luckily I had just worked for the company over a year and was able to stay home that long. I also was able to work a 32 hour week for her first year.

6 weeks is standard. Thankfully I was a teacher when I had my first so I was able to take off the end of the school year (mostly unpaid) and then it was summer so she didn't go to daycare until 5 1/2 months. Which was still heartbreaking. Then after that school year I stayed home with her and now with both of my daughters. :)

My son was 8 weeks and my daughter was 6 weeks. I had her 18 months after having him, so I didn't have a whole lots of vacation time built up. I just couldn't afford to take more time off, since i have the primary income in the house.

for my daycare, I ask for 6 weeks & later. Rarely do I hit that benchmark...with moms planning on returning to work as early as 4 weeks. Breaks my heart.

AND I have had Moms special request a couple hours here/there as early as 2-3 weeks. I hate it!

She was 6 weeks old. Many moms have to go back to work to eat so they have no choice.

With my first I took 6 weeks off to recover from the c-section, worked a week while she was still in NICU (that was pure hell!), took the last 6 weeks of my FMLA (had the time off for both but hadn't been there long enough to have vacation/sick time built up to pay for it!) to be home with her, then she was home 7 weeks with my mom. My second she started at 8 weeks when I went back to work because my dr wouldn't release me before then. Again this job doesn't have paid maternity leave so I only had enough to cover insurance which saved me from going to COBRA. However she was hospitalized at 6 weeks which set me back on recovery/sleep and I wish I just would have taken another week or two or the rest of FMLA!!!

NE licensing starts at 6 weeks. Except the high schools that have daycare they get a special license for them to start at 2 weeks I believe.

I have started kids in my daycare as early as 2 weeks, usually 3 months and several at 8 weeks. I LOVE starting before 8 weeks if possible. The earlier they are with me the closer we get and the sooner we bond.

6 weeks is standard. Shocking, no? The US federal law does not provide for paid maternity leave. We do have FMLA (for companies with 50 or more employees,) which only allows for 12 weeks (unpaid.) More than 120 nations provide for paid maternity leave, but we do not.

I have been providing daycare for almost 11 years. Almost all of my babies start at 12 weeks. Last month I started a baby at 10 weeks, I have never had a baby start younger than 10 weeks.

Our nanny started watching our son at 8 weeks. My DD, as soon as she was born. (Kids are 3 and 9mos).

She comes to our house, and gets them out everyday for activities.
