End of Year Teacher Gift

How about getting her a gift certificate to a local mall or favorite store. Try sending a letter home with all the children in the class asking the parents to donate $5-10 towards the gift certificate.

As a previous teacher, I really appreciated gift cards to anywhere, but namely, out to eat, a bookstore or a movie. Don't know how much you're wanting to spend, but if you're really wanting to go above and beyond, a massage g.c. or dayspa is absolutely out of this world. She'll be talking about it for years...

You're right about the candles and bath products. All of my friends who used to teach say that they get way too much of that. One gift that I've given that has been well appreciated is classroom supplies. Teachers often spend a lot of their own money to buy supplies, and appreciate recieving something that they can use - something that won't clutter up their home. Another idea is a gift card to a "big box" retail store or office supply store.

There is a store in plano called Feat of Clay that sells pottery. You bring your child in and put a handprint or footprint on there and then they paint it to match a theme. (I am taking my boys there for a fathers day grill plate) This would be a special gift that the teacher could treasure forever!.

As a teacher on hold (I'm a SAHM right now), I can tell you that a gift card is ALWAYS appreciated. You can dress it up and present it with little things if you like - but it's always fun to get a little gift card to use to pamper yourself when school is out. Going out to eat...makeup...massage...gift cert. for a summer beach book, etc. It's also nice to get something with it from the child. The child can make it herself, or you can ask her "What did you like about K...Mrs. Jones...etc..." and then write her responses. Those would make a nice card for including the gift certificate.

I am currently a K teacher in Irving. I always appreciate gift cards to anywhere. I have gotten them for Target, Starbucks, and various restaurants. These are so versatile and my whole family can benefit from some of them. Of course, I still love a nice candle or luxurious body lotion that will remind me of a student long after the school year is over. I once got the most fabulous pair of fuzzy socks that feel like heaven on my feet. I also have several nicely framed photographs of past students posing with me from field trips or the first day of school, or whenever. I display these in my classroom on my cabinets. They are great conversation pieces, memories, and always an inspiration.

I used to teach. I would have loved a gift certificate for a pedicure, manicure or facial that I could do on a lazy summer day off. How about a gift card to Studio Movie Grill or another nice resturaunt? If you don't want to spend much, Starbucks and Blockbuster gift cards are always nice. A gift card to a teacher's store or bookstore like Barnes and Noble would be great too.
If she likes to cook, Hallmark has some really cute recipe books with neat cards and sheet protectors. Or, you could find a place that has a cooking class or one of those make and take meal services and get her certificate for a class there. I know when I taught, I would have loved to have a class at a meal creation place like Super Suppers. It's fun, and you have meals ready to cook when you get home from a busy day. It's pricey, but WOW!!!

As the posts show, gift certificates are obviously the way to go. I recommend Barnes and Noble Gift Certificates because the recipient can get books, music, magazines or stuff from the cafe.

I also recommend giftcertificates.com and purchase a supercertificate. This allows the recipient to choose where they get a gift certificate. You just send a dollar amount and they get to pick where they get to use the gift certificate from a list of hundreds of stores, services and restaurants. It's an awesome gift.

PLUS, in order to personalize the GC, you can decorate the GC enclosure with scrapbook paper/embellishments or take the card out and attach it inside another nice card.

As a previous teacher, I always enjoyed receiving gift cards for anywhere and for any amount! If you can go in with other moms in the class, you could all dontate g-cards to different places or go in together to collect for one larger one to spend at the mall. Just a suggestion!

I recently made some Mother's Day gifts at "Clay of Feet" on Park in Plano and there were some moms there creating unique mugs/platters/plates etc. for end of the year teacher gifts. You can paint them or have then design and paint. You can also have your childs hand/foot print etc on it. Hope this helps!

I don't know how much you want to spend, but maybe if you don't want to spend a lot, you could get a few parents of other kids in the class to get a group gift and get her a gift certificate for a massage. I taught Kindergarten for several years, and yes while candles and bath products are nice, there are only so many you can get :) I used to like getting gift certificates to restaurants as my husband and I could go out for a nice dinner together and be able to have some of it paid for. I also love Starbucks and would love getting their gift cards. Another great gift card is to Barnes & Noble (all teachers love that). One year I received personalized thank you note cards from a student. They were really cute white cards with just my first name printed on the front ina cute font (they also came with a fun matching pen). One student gave me movie tickets....any creative gift is great. If you know any of the teacher's personal interests, that is a great way to target appopriate gifts. Hope this helps!

I am a third grade teacher and have received all kinds of end of school year gifts. Some of my favorite gifts have been a spa gift certificate, a Barnes and Noble gift certificate with instructions to purchase a book that I wanted to read over the summer and not books for my classroom, and movie gift certificates. All of these were gifts that I could use during the summer to unwind from the school year. You may also want to let your daughter write a note in the card that tells her teacher what she loved most about kindergarten. (You may have to write as she dictates because of her age.) Good luck!

Just an idea that I used for my sons kindergarten teacher last year for Teachers Appreciation Week. I bought a big glass candy jar at Walmart and attached a laminated copy of this to the front and filled with Candy...

One thing that I gave as a teacher gift this year was a gift certificate to Into My Garden tearoom in downtown Plano. It's one of my favorite places to have lunch and the teacher seemed to really like it.

I know it sounds silly, but my FAVORITE gifts from parents were always gift cards for a spa treatment or dinner out or Starbucks or something like that. Basically something to treat myself. I am a wife of a teacher, and it was always nice to receive dinner gift cards. It didnt have to be anything big, just a small thank you and you know it will get some use!

I work in the schools as a speech language pathologists. I appreciate any gifts that parents choose to give. It is a very nice compliment to alot of hard work. I think the most flexible for teachers are gift cards to restaurants, clothing stores, etc. I always enjoy spending them over the summer. Just a thought.
