Ectopic Pregnancy and Loss of a Fallopian Tube

Hi E., I had the same thing, ectopic and removal of tube. It was nearly impossible for me to get pg in the first place and I had a few m/c before the ectopic. So after the surgery we opted for IVF and now have two-year-old twins after our second attempt.

I know IVF if not an option for everyone, but keep in mind, you got pg before so if need be, with help, you can get pg again.

I also know a few people that got pg naturally after a tube removal. It is a little more difficult, but totally possible. Just keep trying every month, like you did before. The every other month thing is not necessarily true, so keep up the diligence.

Ask for help, see a fertility specialist, it doesn't hurt to talk.

As a fellow PCOSer I would recommend asking your endochrinologist about glucophage (aka: metformin) because it treats the root of PCOS. I too was told that I would need to take Clomid in order to conceive but on glucophage I have had 4 kids, none with Clomid necessary. I am sorry for your loss! I can only imagine the pain (emotional as well as physical) that you have and perhaps continue to endure. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

My advise, keep praying because god gives a miracle to somebody else ask for anything else. I don't know what do you believe, because I believe in god. With my experienced and raised four children. I have two adults children. One daughter is 25 yrs old and married and had her 17 mths daughter,21 yrs old son is studying video and game designer in NY, 16 yrs old daughter is in Junior College,14 yrs old son is freshman in high school. I was blessed with this talented and beautiful children. I always pray if things go wrong and out of my control. Have faith in god, who know he will give you a miracle baby when you ask. I had a friend who had the same thing happen. Her and her husband were having trouble concieving their first child. After her surgery she was told to wait 6 months before trying again. And now they are proud parents of a beautiful baby boy. I dont think you will have any problems once your body is back to normal.

I had two ectopic pregnancies in my twenties one in each tube, the second time the tube ruptured and had to be removed. I was told I had a less then 50% chance of ever getting pregnant because of the scar tissue on my remaining fallopian tube.
I now have 3 beautiful children all conceived naturally, including twins!
Wait until you are fully recovered and just relax the more you are worried or stressed the harder it will be on your body.

I had a tube and ovary removed many, many years ago due to a ruptured cyst (torsion). It's not true that ovaries take turns ovulating every month. When one ovary is removed the remaining ovary will generally pick up the slack and ovulate each month. Otherwise all of us with one ovary would only be getting periods every other month.

I'm not entirely sure how it works when both ovaries remain but one tube is gone. However, I do think that conception will be as achievable as it was prior to the removal in a few months. PCOS obviously adds another hurdle and I'm sorry for that. I have PCOS too and ultimately had IVF to conceive my babies. However, I had other issues as well and the PCOS was not the reason I had IVF.

Although I didn't have any other hurdles, I, too, had an ectopic pregnancy and removal of one fallopian tube when I was in my 20's. Although the doctors told me it may be difficult to conceive, I had three wonderful daughters. The first two were conceived after 4 months each, and the third one on the first try. The youngest is now 20, so please be optimistic. My only fallopian tube worked wonders.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Although I have not experienced it personally, I have a very good friend who went through it. Thankfully she & her husband, with much strength, faith, & patients, were able to concieve about a year after her surgery. Her gorgeous baby boy recently turned 3 years old. You may be feeling down now, but the great story of how you conceived your 2nd child after an ectopic pregnancy & loss of a fallopian tube, is waiting to be written. Good Luck.

No need to worry! I've had several friends in this situation and they all went on to have more kids. If you had trouble the first time, you will probably have trouble again, but not because of the lost fallopian tube.

my mom also had an ectopic with an almost bust, to surgery and had it removed (her tube) but she happen to get pregnant again with her fifth and that would be me!!! dont give up and pray that it would happen
