Anything Thomas the Tank Engine related. My son is obsessed! He also likes anything he can build, so he loves legos.

Mine just turned 4 - he is waaaayyy into super heroes. His two favorite presents were a super hero cape with mask and a spiderman mask with glove and web shooter. But he also likes the Cars geo-trax and his wooden train set. Or a big box and a stick. ;)

we don't do parties anymore so he got to choose his cake either homemade or store bought, got to choose where he would like to go (he's a summer baby and we live in FL so he chose the beach) and then we bought him some star wars toys (the small ones for younger kids). my son is really into mario, for christmas we bought him wii games. he also likes spongebob, so we bought him a dvd and some toys.

Easy board games--Candyland, Chutes & Ladders, etc.

A classic chapter book like Treasure Island--esp if he likes Pirates!

I got my son a Leapster Explorer for this past Christmas and he is 4. He also loves hot wheels, tomaca trains (toysrus) and monster trucks. When he turned 2 we got him a radio flyer scooter that he loves and plan on getting him a two wheeled one for his 5th b-day. How about a 16in bike with training wheels if he doesn't have one???

Happy B-day to your son!!

My oldest turned 5 today, and his faves over the past year have been anything with huge teeth (sharks, alligators, dinosaurs), legos, superheroes - particularly Batman and Spiderman-and art supplies. He's really gotten into painting and coloring with markers. I highly suggest Playmobil sets as well.

Legos are awesome and allow kids to be creative in their play. My son is 3 1/2 and loves hot wheels and thomas the train stuff.

A bike and riding helmet. Then for Christmas we got me (Mom) a tandum bike attachment for my bike. Now he can ride attached to my bike or we can ride along side oneanother. So much fun!

We gave a 4 year old some Trio blocks for his last birthday and they were a big hit. His mom later told us that he spent his birthday money to buy more. You can connect them from different sides. It came with some instructions to show you how to make a helicopter and different stuff. My ds just turned three and my 5 1/2 year old dd picked out the Trio for her brother's gift. She said he always plays with them out our friends house. Well, they haven't stopped playing with them, mostly her. He likes them too though. He also loves his remote control cars.
