Hey Ladies! We are due in Feb and we can choose from Arrowhead Hospital or Thunderbird Hospital. I wanted to get pros and cons from whoever has delivered at one of these to help make our decision. TIA

What can I do next?

Hello!

When I was in the same situaton in 8/2005 I heard nothing but bad things about Arrowhead. We went to Banner Thunderbird and I would go again wihtout a second thought. The staff and the environment were awesome and so supportive to a new family. The lactation consultants were wonderful and ever so patient! It was a great experience there and we felt safe and taken care off at every minute!

Good luck to you!

I HIGHLY recommend Banner Thunderbird. I know a few people who delivered at Arrowhead and I was never impressed and neither were they. I had my daughter at Banner Thunderbird almost 2 years ago and I would not have had it any other way. The staff was amazing and made my exciting day one to remember. The staff was so great that the nurse who took care of me through my entire labor left at 7pm because her shift was over (just 44 minutes before my baby was born) and since she didnt get to see my daughter the next day she came to see me in my post pardom room. I thought that was so awesome! They all made us feel welcome and special. I am now pregnant with baby #2 and I plan on going to Banner T-bird again! Good luck and congrats!!!! (p.s. the baby bistro meal after you have the baby is sooooooooo good...we had a steak dinner for two with a baked potato and veggies, cheesecake, and apple cider...such a fun time!!!)

I would say Thunderbird, hands down. I have worked at both hospitals and would not take my worst enemy to Arrowhead. I know that neither hospital is perfect, but Arrowhead is just plain scary!
Best wishes.

I had 2 kids at Arrowhead and while I can't say it was exceptional I never had any problems while I was there. It was a little cold. I am expecting #3 and this almost makes me wish I could go to T-bird but I think my doc delivers at arrowhead and it is closer to my house.

I have heard aweful things about Arrowhead hospital, but have never actually been there. I have heard that the nurses take a long time to make it to your room, and aren't as attentive as they should be. (like I stated before, I have not witnessed this first hand) but I did have my son at Thunderbird (in March) and I had a wonderful experience, the staff was very nice and caring, made me feel comfortable (I was a nervous wreck being my first pregnancy and all) They communicated very well among eachother and with their patients and visitors, the room i delivered in was huge. i just had such a great experience there I would reccommend it to anyone. Hope I have helped :0)

Stay far away from Arrowhead. I had awful experiences there. The nurses are terrible and mean. I had to wait for a very long time for the anestegiologist, almost too long, yikes! The nurses almost sent me home saying I was peeing when it was my water that broke and was leaking. Good luck!

Agreed with Banner. First, the Banner corp is in both AZ and CA, and they have a nationwide reputation as a good group of hospitals. Second, I had triplets down at Good Sam and they were transfered to Tbird to be closer to my home once they were stable. All the staff at Tbird are great, and it seems to also be a better layout(easy to find rooms for visitors). The only downside I can think of was the construction going on and parking. I am sure they will be getting more done by February, so that should not be such a problem. Congrats and best of luck.

THUNDERBIRD - we had a wonderful experience there in May. The birthing rooms were very comfortable and even though the regular rooms are small, the staff was wonderful. I have not been to Arrowhead, but have heard rumors about it. We have a friend whose sister had to share a room there, and our doula said it is one of her least favorite hospitals to deliever and she has seen them all - she loves Thunderbird = it is in her top 3! Hope this helps!

I delivered at Thunderbird. Their lactations consultants were so great and helpful! They even run a class once a week to help moms learning how to breastfeed. I liked all but one of my nurses, and the nurse that helped me deliver was fantastic!
