A New Mole (Lima Bean Size) Just Appeared on My 7 Year Old's Back

My son was getting out of the shower the other day and I came in to check on him. He turned around to dry and I noticed this large mole on his back that wasn't there two days ago! Wierd. I asked him if it hurt and he said only if I scrape it. I wasn't sure if maybe he had just bonked his back on something, but it is a perfect circle! I don't think one can hurt themselves in a perfect circle...BUT, I did make an appointment with his doctor for Thursday, but am just wondering if any of you other moms out there have had a young child that had moles show up so quickly, or if any one has a child that did and it turned out to be cancer! I am freakin' out a little bit!

What can I do next?

Could it be ringworm and not a mole, worth a skin scrape/uv light check to be sure? Moles usually don't pop up that randomly and that large, very strange, hope it's nothing to worry about.

Doubtful it's cancer -- as far as I know it doesn't spread THAT quickly, but your're right on top of it so don't worry. Just get the mole checked out.

Yes, that can happen and I understand that you would freak out. But since it in symetrical it is probably nothing to worry about. But it's a good idea to check it out and ease your mind.

Hi L.,

My daughter had a mole (on the back of her thigh) since she was born. At age 7, within two days of me seeing that particular spot it was completely gone. The dermatologist told me there was nothing wrong that she had a strong immune system. The fact was it was an autoimmune reaction to something. I learned that several years later and scared me to death. I proceeded to investigate how to build the immune system so strange reactions didn't affect her any more and cancers didn't develop.

Don't panic. Things actually showing up means that you can determine exactly what you need to do. The scary things are the invisible and silent things that give you no warning. If you want his immune system, feel free to get back to me. I'll be glad to let you in on what I did.

God bless,

M.

Dumb question but are you sure its not a tick? I've never heard of a mole growing that big in two days but I have seen a tick on my dog that got that huge in one day. Just a thought..........best of luck!
