Where to Find Puppets

I am looking for a store in the Sterling Heights/Rochester area that might sell puppets that I can use to help teach my 4 year old Sunday school class. I can't find any puppets anywhere. I have tried Lakeshore Learning (they had some but were for kids to hold -- too small for my hands), Toys R Us and the Family Christian bookstore. I was hoping to not have to buy one online. Anyone have any ideas?

Safe Arts & Crafts for Babies

Looking for fun, safe arts & crafts ideas for our 8 month old. Just a little something to start tapping into her artistic side. Everything she plays with goes in her mouth. I've seen non toxic finger paints in stores but of course they're not going to say it's edible. Any creative ideas? One friend suggested crayons as the least harmful? Pudding? Or just good old finger paints under close supervision? Thanks!

What to Do with the Piles and Piles of School Artwork?!

I'm desperately trying to get a handle on the chaos in my house that has gotten out of hand since my fourth baby was born in September. I am able to organize most things pretty efficiently, but the one thing I have never been able to figure out how to deal with is the artwork and school papers that come home every day. Now I have 2 kids in preschool, so they are coming home with completed cut and paste exercises, paper bag hand puppets, painted masterpieces, and a ton of projects that relate to the current season or theme of the week. ...

Flying with 4 Year Old for the 1St Time

In a few days my daughter and I will be flying out on vacation. She has never flown before. I have a backpack set up with toys that she picked out. Any other suggestions for kids on planes. I am also concerned about her ears. She does not know how to chew gum yet. A few people have told me to give her Benadyl to calm her down. I am not fond of giving her medicine when she really doesn't need it. Besides that sometimes it has the opposite effect. I would really love any input anyone has on this topic.

Front-facing Car Seat That Is FAA Approved for Planes

hi Moms, In her first year my daughter has already ridden on several plane trips, but never in her own seat. she has just been in my lap each time. She's getting bigger and more squirmy now, and I think its time for her to have her own seat on the plane (for her safety as well as my sanity!). Its also time for her to switch from the rear-facing infant seat to a front-facing toddler one. So I am wondering, because this info seems surprisingly allusive on the web: does anyone know how i can find out which toddler car seats are...

Should I Donate My Son's Clothes or Keep Them for Brother

Hey Moms, This probably sounds silly, but I want to know what other moms do. My storage room is very limited in space. My two sons are 4 years apart. My oldest is 4-1/2 years and his brother is 6 mos. I have been saving my oldest son's clothes for the youngest and have accumulated quite a bit. I'm wondering, since my storage space is very limited, if I should just donate my oldest son's clothes instead of hanging on to them for his little brother. Is four years a huge change in clothing styles? I've never been down this road...

Seeking Advice for Potty-trained 2.5 Yr Old at Naptime

I am seeking advice on how to curb my 2.5 yr old's idea of "funny" each Saturday at naptime. She throws out all her bedding and stuffed animals, then strips down (even her naptime diaper) and poos all over her sheets. She then triumphantly calls to me to see. I've tried to tell her this is yucky and germy - I've taken away TV and other tangible items, but she just doesn't get it. She is also not sleeping at all in the afternoon, but only on Saturdays and Sundays, when she is home. Help, please!

Tips for Starting a Play Group

I would like to start a play group with some new mothers at my church, and I don't know the first thing about this. If anyone has ever started a play group- or even participated in one- I would really appreciate your advice! What kinds of things are helpful? What is a good size for this kind of a group? I don't want to make this too formal, I just want it to be beneficial for new moms, and I want to enjoy it too. Thanks!

Toys for Car and Stroller

Can anyone recommend good toys for the car and stroller? My daughter who is 18 months does not like the carseat and stroller. I can never go on walks with her anymore because she cries and wants out after about 20 minutes ( and thats a long time). She does a little better in the wagon..With the carseat she is constantly arching. We are going on a long car trip for the first time in Nov. and I was thinking maybe if we gave her some new toys she would be a little better.
