Hi Girls,

I need some advice. I am a SAHM and need to make some extra money. I love the beauty industry and am actually a licensed esthetician. I know that Avon, Arbonne, and Mary Kay are good companies but which one is better? Is there any other beauty companies that are good to work for also? Thanks for all the advice.

What can I do next?

I am responding to your question about the best beauty company to work for. Without a doubt, it is Siresse Skin Care founded by Sly and Jennifer Stallone. Please visit my website
www.myseriesse.com/Debbie5454
The products are wonderful, the compensation is great - 30% commissions. This is true health and beauty from the inside/out.
Great support system, also. I also sell Avon, have for over 30 years, but Seriesse is better.

Let me hear from you and let me know when you get this if you have any questions.

Great incentives for the summer months - gas cards, etc.

I have worked at home full time 2004, but not with direct sales so I can't be of much help with that. However, I do have an excellent link for you to check out. It has info about direct sales companies: http://www.internetbasedmoms.com/direct-sales

I hope that helps? Working at home successfully can and does happen all the time, but there is a trial and error involved. If you remember that then you won't have so much pressure on yourself.

Wishing you the best,
N.

I admire your desire to remain a SAHM, but I can understand the need for some extra money in the household. I am a SAHM also who works from home with a wonderul team call THE M.O.M. (Mothers on a Mission) team. There is no selling, stocking, or parties. It's the best home-based thing I've found. It's actually legitimate. I've dumped hundreds of dollars into scam ater scam and was finally blessed with this. If you want to earn a great income, but don't want the hassle of lugging a bunch of products around to parties, check out my website. www.1momchanginglives.com

I can give you an unbiased opinion because I do not work for any of those companies, but I have in the past! My personal favorite (and the easiest to sell) was Avon. Honestly, I thought Mary Kay and Arbonne were too expensive and the cost was a big turn-off to people. I didn't think their products were any better than Avon. I did love Melaleuca products, but they are pretty expensive also. One thing I liked about Melaleuca was the concept. You didn't sell; you bought. You could sell if you wanted to but the main idea was to get people signed on underneath you to buy their products also, then you'd make money off your downline. I loved the concept but never got anyone else interested although their products were wonderful.

With Avon I never had to try to sign people on, I never had to have home parties (which I hate), and I never had to pressure anyone to buy it. When people heard I was a rep they'd BEG me to bring them a catalog! Also, it's cheap to sign on (like $10 or $20) and with that you get a LOT of stuff; catalogs, samples, etc. You can earn up to 50%, which to me is really amazing considering a lot of their cosmetics are cheaper than if you were to go into Walmart and buy Loreal, Maybelline, etc.

Avon reps are always in demand, too. (At least here they are!) I know here in my town it's hard to find one. I'm looking for one myself, so if anyone in the Christian County area sells it, please PM me. :)

Good luck with whatever you decide!

First of all my name e is C. Allen and I had the same questions a few years ago. I actually knew someone at the corporate level of Avon and she warned me to stay clear because it is set up for only a few directors to make the money. Next my best friend signed up to do Mary Kay 3 different times and worked it really hard but never received the pink Cadillac. It was so bad she finally just said forget it. Then someone she knew introduced her to the Arbonne opportunity which she signed on to purchase their products but didn't work the business until now. She has been using their products for a few years and so have I. She is currently going for the big picture and has the White Mercedes Benz. I am currently working for my Mercedes as well. We have been working it really hard for about 6 months and we have made it a lot further much faster because Arbonne is really set up for massive success. All of their products are pure, safe and beneficial and once you make the leap I am convinced you would love it here. I am a licensed hairstylist and esthetician in Tennessee. Please feel free to go to my website cassandraallen.arbonne.com and take a look. I am making fabulous money with this company and I am on my way to the top of the company. We have millionaires in Arbonne. Contact me if you would like to know more. Have a great evening.

I am a consultant for Arbonne but I do not sale it I just am a consultant for the 35% discount. I am a designer for Home and Garden Party and from what I hear Arbonne offers the better commissions. Also another great thing is that you can feel great about the products you are selling because they go through extensive testing and are not going to harm your clients face or body in any way. I would suggest going to each ones website and get the information from there first and then compile a list of questions to ask and call independent reps in your area to answer your questions and make an informed decision. I promise that none of them are going to mind answering any and all of your questions.

I am an independent Marketing Executive with the company Melaleuca, Inc. They are a wellness company with 5 different lines of products. One of those lines is the Nicole Miller cosmetic and skin care line. That line is absolutely fantastic!! I have looked at other companies like Arbonne, Avon, and Mary Kay and I found that I wanted a company that didn't limit the people I could talk to. Most men aren't interested in cosmetics at all and many women I know DON'T wear makeup at all. The larger number of people that you have to talk to, the better business you will have. Consider Melaleuca and go here http://www.biz4home.biz to request more information about working AT home (not from home-actually AT home-you don't HAVE to do parties and all that)with me.
I would love to hear from you!

I can't give you a basis of comparison, because I don't know much about Arbonne or Avon. I am a Mary Kay consultant, as are my mom and my sister. We have had a lot of fun as consultants, and know of so many personal success stories with Mary Kay consultants. Mary Kay products have been around for years and the company has a good reputation and strives for customer satisfaction. They are very high quality products, which has been proven by the number of years that the company has been ranked number one in the cosmetics industry. You also have the opportunity for many bonuses, advancements, and using cars that the company provides for you.
Although I have not personally used any Arbonne products, I have heard nothing but good things about their products also. The only negative experience I have had concerning Arbonne was a consultant that I spoke to once. She was fairly knowledgeable about the products, but was more focused on putting down Arbonne's competitors (like Mary Kay, Avon, and Clinique). Granted, you will find a few consultants like that with any company. My neighbor used to work for Avon, and did pretty well with her business, but had a lot of problems between herself and the company, and she ended up quitting. However, Avon is also a well established company that has been around for many years, and obviously provides quality, popular products.
If I can help you with any questions you might have about Mary Kay, I would be more than happy to help. It's never a bad idea to research all possibilities before you commit yourself and you time to anything. Whichever direction you choose to go, you have a lot of options with very reputable companies. Good luck to you!

I am like you I have always wanted an at home job!

Because it was the cheapest to start, I tried Avon. BIG MISTAKE! Yes you can earn 50% but it is based on how much you sell (or the first 4 orders)! Mary Kay is 50% all the time!

Also with Avon you have to purchase books every 2 weeks! Mary Kay is like 4 times a year.

Not too mention Avon has areas in which you have to sell... so if someone is selling in your neighborhood you have to sell somewhere else (at least it was like that when I tried!) And usually as an Avon lady you drive around to deliver the books and get the orders and again to deliver product! At the price of gas how are you going to make money?

When I would introduce myself as an Avon Rep. and ask people if they wanted to purchase anything a lot of people told me they purchase Mary Kay.

I have always wanted to sell Mary Kay, but the downfall with it is it cost $100 to start (which is a steal for all you get), but I have never had an extra $100 laying around! I think about everyone I know wears Mary Kay, and the parties are fun!

Hi S.. My name is Melissa and I recently started a business called Beauti Control. What I do is go to womens homes and give them spa treatments. This includes hands, face, feet and legs. I am doing really great at it because I use all my products on the women and the product just sells itself. I usually have 1 on 2 bookings at each show because it's a very relaxing experience for women. To start up you have to buy a kit-it's a $450.00 amount of product and this April they are selling it for $99.00. In May it will go up to $179.00. This is the product you will need to use at your spas. But this is the part I like.. They don't care how many spas you have, you could actually just buy the product and never have a spa again. But if you do want a business-they want you to buy $100.00 of product just every 4 months to keep your business open and to continue your discount. The discounts are great and so is the product! I never thought that my business would take off like it has. I have noticed that alot of women have never had a spa escape or have been to one, so for me that is good news-more spas!! Anyways, if you want more info about this let me know. Melissa

The answers you've gotten are some good ones. I'd like to ask everyone what is the time commitment and how much does that break down to earnings per hour? For example, in a month how many hours do you "work" and then how much do you earn per month?

Hi S.. I would love to talk to you about Arbonne. I have actually been with the other two companies you referenced and NOTHING compares to Arbonne! Our products are plant, botanically based (so the "in" thing right now), and it's only $29 to start!! Also, our team here has a unique way of approaching this business where you don't do parties..it's more of a professional (in my opinion) type business you run from home.

MANY of our consultants are estheticians so I know you'll appreciate our science and what's in our products as well.

Also, unlike the other companies you mentioned, we are a health and wellness company so we go beyond skin care and makeup for women. For exsample, my kids are all on the Arbonne baby/child care line using fabulous products you can't get in a store. :)

I'd love to discuss further with you. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com or visit my site at www.real.myarbonne.com

I am emailing to tell you about a company called Melaleuca. I am trying to get a group of women to join with me so that we can just start making good money fast. If you want to know more about the company you can find them at www.melaleuca.com. I like the fact that you would not have to deliver any products. You just join a membership and they sell vitamins, all natural beauty products, cleaning products that won't harm you. They have cell phones. They offer services like helping you negotiate when you are purchasing a car. All sorts of products to draw in not only women but everyone. Everything is all natural and more healthy for you as well. When you get 8 people to join the membership you automatically get a $500.00 check coming to you. It is just like joining a membership to Sams Club only you don't have to leave the comfort of your house and everything is shipped to you. Let me know if you are interested and check out the website for yourself.

Hi S.,
Sorry I'm so late with this response! I'm new to Mamasource and just noticed your request.
Are you still looking for a company that has the best make-up and skincare? If you are I have a business that offers Custom Foundation and Custom mineral powders for the individual woman. We've been using custom products for over 5yrs. and are leading the way in the beauty and anti-aging markets. If you would like more info. on products and compensation I can share that with you as well. I've looked at MaryKay, Arbonne and Avon's compensation and it doesn't even compare to ours.

I wish you the best of luck in your hunt for a home-based business. I am an Independent Consultant with Arbonne and love it. I know you have already heard from a few, so I will not step on their toes or bore you with the same information. If you are seriously interested in a company visit their website and read information about the company then go to the Direct Selling Association and make sure they are registered.
Pick a product and a company you are passionate about. Try the products before you commit to a company. If you have to be convinced to like the product you will have to be convinced to stay with the company.
If you want more information, you can contact me or anyone else who responded.
Good Luck and more than that find something that is fun.
