Hello All. I'm torn between the two blood banks. Does anyone have any opinion about either one? If you could let me know what your thoughts are that would be great. I know it is a personal thing but any thoughts might help me. We are having baby #2 in Novermber and need some help with pros and cons of each company. If you don't mind sharing your experience that would be great. Thanks so much in advance for the advice.
Have a great day!

Hi S.- We read up on it alot and asked our primary care doctor and OB-gyn and decided to bank with our pregnancy. Neither doctor had a monetary incentive to recommend any particular company. They mentioned public banking but the risk was that the cells would not be available for our family’s use or that our hospital wouldn't be able to support this. They recommended Cord Blood Registry or Viacord (both are good). But we decided to go with CBR because my girlfriend told me she had found a discount coupon for it online that has no expiration date and that anyone could use. I used it when I enrolled online M1998 and got $250 Off the fees. Total came out to $1,900. We don’t spend on fancy vacations, expensive cars or house remodeling so for us it was worth it. I also did some more researching and CBR has a program where you can register (for free) to become a "CBR MOM" and you can actually earn back your fees by referring other moms. I have already paid back part of my $1,900 in fees through my network.
Good Luck!!
Mindy (mom of 3 under 3)

I have had great service with CBR. I chose them based on their location in AZ. Not a flood area, not a hurricane or tornado area, etc. I had done some research and our cousin referred us to them as well.

I couldn't tell you the pros and cons. My ob suggested CBR and I have banked all 3 kids' blood with them. We have never had any problems.

I used CBR and absolutely loved them, no complaints whatsoever. I have no experience with ViaCord simply because I didn't use them, but I'm sure they are great too. We banked our firstborn's cord blood in 2005. I wanted to do the same with my youngest but finances were already so much tighter than they were when we were expecting the first. The whole process was very easy; you get the kit from your OB and give it to the doctor right after the baby is born so they can put the cord blood in a vial immediately (you tell them you are doing this beforehand, obviously). Prior to delivery everything is set up over the phone with a rep from the company, and all you have to do is call on the baby's birthday so they can send someone to the hospital to pick up the kit with the cord blood. Could not be easier! Good luck and good for you for considering this. I think it is extremely valuable and I wish it was more affordable so everyone could do it with all their children.

I stored all my children's cord blood with CBR since 1998. I have been very happy with them, always have found good customer service and have found that they have been consistent for the last 10 years.

Hi S. - I have to agree with everyone else. I chose CBR because it is the largest and has the most experience. They are constantly doing research and they email you when they have good news about miracles that stem cells have performed. They are always nice and courteous, they bill your credit card annually so it's no muss no fuss. they also always have discount coupons online - so make sure you use one!
