Seeking Moms Who Have Had/attempted VBAC

There is a group in the metro area that is a chapter of an international organization ICAN. ICAN stands for International Cesarean Awareness Network. We are all moms who have had a Cesarean and are working toward VBACs. The group has great information. Speakers and topics of concern are addressed, as well as, information about having an increased success rate with VBACs. They also have a great lending library.

Twin Cities Chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN) is a mother-to-mother support group for cesarean prevention, recovery and vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Free monthly meetings are held at 6:30 pm on the second Monday of each month at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1720 East Minnehaha Parkway, Mpls. 55407. My son was delivered via c-section, so I decided to schedule a c-section for my daughter. She came too quickly, though, and I had a successful, no drugs, VBAC! Everything went great and the recovery was amazing, compared to a c-section.

My second was VBAC. It started out alot like my first one so everyone thought it was going to be a csection but it wasn't. It was a lot better. I was able to walk around a little that night to use the bathroom. I was sore but not as much as I was with my csection.I had a horrible exp. with my cesection because I ended up in the er with it being infected so VBAC was a lot better exp. for me.

Congratulations for making the decision to do a VBAC. I was surprised, after all that everyone said, how sore I was after my VBAC. My recovery still took about 4 to 6 weeks, but I felt loads better right away. My milk came in sooner and has been thicker... I think do to the fact that there is less body trauma. I didn't feel all drugged out and unaware, either.

I just wanted to say, don't be disappointed if you end up with a C-section. I had one with the first baby because he was breech. I have a few friends who had one because they didn't progress and that didn't change the next time around.

Wow, you sound just like me! Same hospital, same job, same space between children.
I had a VBAC without really planning on it, because my OB wanted to schedule a C-section. I went into labor early, and I have to say that the success of the VBAC was due to my friend being present as a doula and really helping me to push that baby out(9.1 lbs!). Unfortunately she isn't a professinal doula, but for me having someone there who encouraged me to do it made a big difference.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! My first son was a C-section after a long, frustrating labor, and I really wanted a VBAC with #2. Well, 14 hours after my water broke, I couldn't get a contraction to save my life, and after struggling with the decision, I decided on another C-section. Turned out he had two knots in the cord and it was around his neck twice!

Absolutely get in touch with ant organization that can help you, and explain to your dr. that this is a prioroty for you and you really want a successful VBAC. And I hope you have a wonderful, successful labor. But I just wanted to tell you not to get too worried about that part of it. I felt like a failure after my first C-section and was worried I would feel the same way after another "failed" labor. But I guess my body knew the right way to get that baby out, and I'm very grateful to have two healthy sons.

Get a doula. I recently had my second baby. my first was vaginal but forceps assisted and this time i wanted a natural delivery. So i hired this wonderful angel (whom I can refer u too if u are interested) and delivered my almost 8 pounds baby naturally with no pain medications. my friend actually suggested this to me and she had a successful VBAC after hiring a doula.
