I'm new to the DFW area and we are planning on getting pregnant soon. Anyone know of any good OB GYNs in the area, I'm willing to drive for a good one. Also what's your pick between Presby Allen or Plano. I'd like to stay with one of those because they are the only "baby friendly" hospitals in the area. http://babyfriendlyusa.org/ Any help would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

I've thoroughly loved my OB/GYN, it's Sara Robert at Craig Ranch Ob/Gyn http://www.craigranchobgyn.com/ They do try to rotate you through each physician in that office when you go to your monthly appointments (when pregnant) just in case you end up going into labor on a weekend and you get the on call doc. They don't like their patients to be "surprised" with a new face come delivery. I have enjoyed all of them and if you prefer a mid-wife, they have one on staff there too but I chose to go the traditional route. Also, as far as delivering, I actually go to church with the gentleman who is over all Presbyterian hospitals in the area and I know for a fact when he left Medical Center hospitals to take over Presby's, his first order of buisness was to bring Presby Allen back up to par for women. However, I delivered at McKinney hospital and had a great experience and a friend of mine delivered at Baylor Frisco and had a good experience there as well. I really think it all depends on your nurses on how well your experience will be.

a word of advice: Choose a Dr near you, my Dr was 1 hour away, but I had complications of pregnancy and had to change half way through my pregnancy to the absolute closest hospital and a Dr that could deliver there... you just never know what will happen and it's better than not knowing the Dr that has to deliver your baby in an emergency, or better than driving an hour while you are in labor. That being said I spent a month (before delivering) at Baylor Grapevine and I can tell you the NICU and Baby Dr's there were great! I liked my OB Gyn also, but my favorite Dr at Baylor was Dr Killianski (not sure how you spell it) he's in Keller, he handled my emergency when my Dr was out of town. But all time favorite OB Gyn in Dr Daum in Mansfield, I did go back to him after all my children were born, and he is about an hour south of where I live now, so I get being willing to drive for a great Dr, but for a baby... pick someone close!

I dearly love Dr. William Weise in Allen, I delivered both of my kids at Presby Allen and would highly recommend them. I believe that Plano has the NICU facilities if you are high risk that may be a factor in your decision.

Not sure what you mean by "baby friendly." I've heard it used in different ways. If you mean that the hospital promotes breast feeding over formula (that's what my doctor meant when she said "baby friendly"), then Presby Denton was really good about that. They were great about sticking to my delivery plan and went out of their way to accommodate me (like letting me hold my baby within minutes of being wheeled out of the operating room.) Also, they have their own NICU, so in the event of complications (heaven forbid), you don't have to worry about baby being in one hospital while you're stuck in another hospital an hour away.

If one is private and one is public-I would choose the private hospital.

I'd have to pick Presby Allen because they have really good quality service there.
